  Do you have a legit version of Windows? MSE does require that; but it is a great anti-virus program..

  i'm still a semi member of the kh but not at all active and have major doubts when i started reading all kinds of opposing literature.

  talked to elders about this and also my father but my father but he still believes it's the "truth".

  anyways jist of this story is i gave my father a copy of "crisis of conscience".

  Wouldn't it be nice if all the unidentified 'apostates' (those who haven't outed themselves yet) dialed in and gave up their home phone number (caller id) voluntarily... just sayin' - but maybe it's just me and my paranoia!

  it seems that religion has always been considered the opium of the people.

  or at least many tend to gravitate towards religion to have or solidify some sort of future with a supreme being overlooking them hoping to have a reward either in heaven or in the jehovah's witnesses case - living forever in a " paradise earth ".

  it seems that people can't just live day to day and let each day come to them with whatever happens.

  I'm 100% OK not knowing the future - if God needs to kill me to make the world a better place, I guess the end really does justify the means. But yes, I don't think the universe gives a hoot about me.

  i was curious because i had heard simon was a jw when he started this forum.

  i was looking through the old posts, but couldn't really pinpoint one that was a "turning point" so-to-speak.

  I'm sure the "in the truth" phrase goes back probably at least 50 or 60 years. I'd love to find the background on this phrase, but I doubt it's "grass-roots" in any way.

  so they have been pushing armageddon off since they began.. we all know the previous dates but right now they are pushing this "overlapping" generation b/s.. .

  my bet for the next "new light":.

  'matthew 24:14 says that 'this good news will be preached in all the inhabited earth as a witness to all nations and then the end will come' thus wecan conclude that as there are still villages such as those in the peru which have never met white men or outsiders, until those villagers receive the truth, amrmageddon cannot come!

  The thought that the preaching work doens't have to be completed "in all the inhabited earth," even though the scripture says it does, comes from Matt 10:23:

  "(Matthew 10:23) When they persecute YOU in one city, flee to another; for truly I say to YOU, YOU will by no means complete the circuit of the cities of Israel until the Son of man arrives."

  seems to be the trend today to call another, a friend or loved one, "boo".

  it was cute about five years ago when it was seldom used.. it's old, it's overdone, it's done by everyone, it should stop now.
