This has been suspected for quite few years now (Simmons etc), but never openly reported on till now.. The key paragraph is this:

"None of this is to say that the world has run out of oil – far from it, in fact – but it does mean that Saudi Arabia, the largest country in the Middle East and the country that's thought by experts to hold about one-fifth of the world's proven total petroleum reserves, won't be able to provide enough oil to keep the world operating as it does today."

The author tries to be reassuring, but it's irrelevant that we're not going to run "out" of oil right now. All we have to cross is the tipping point, where each year the world oil supplies provide just a little bit less than the year before. That tipping point welcomes in some pretty ugly scenarios, including resource wars (I'd say US invades Canada in 10 years) and starvation on a wide scale (the entire Green Revolution in the 1950-1960's was on the back of technology and fertilizer (which is primarily oil/nat gas based) innovations.)The US government is fully aware of this peak oil scenario. Try googling for a somewhat "hidden" US document detailing what the world will look like in 15 years or so. I'm still trying to find it, but will link when I do.

Gas Prices Not Cooperating with Governing Body "Arrangement"

we all know how the governing body has "lovingly arranged" for 30 hour aux pioneering in april.

but oil prices are going up, and $4 a gallon gas will probably be here by memorial day, and $5 gas by the summer.

Kingdom Interlinear = apostate literature?

has anybody else come across jdubs that have never heard of the kingdom interlinear translation?

i noticed this artcle http://www.soundwitness.org/jw/kit_part1.htm and i've found when i asked witnesses about it some never heard of it and other's had heard of it but didn't have one and didn't know if they were still in print and one got all weird and suspicious saying "well what do you want it for?".

when i called the watchtower and asked if it was still in print the guy had to put me on hold and look it up somewhere, he didn't know off the top of his head.

I have a potentially profitable idea.. how about slowly ordering KITs from the literature desk and putting them up for sale on Ebay.. doubt it would work though because it's really the 1969 purple ones that are $ valuable AND the WTS would get wise as to why there's so many KITs being requested from one congregation..

I'm no artist, but that is such an amateurish drawing, it looks it was drawn by someone of about 12 years old. Seriously, can you imagine having that painting/drawing mounted against some of the genuinely good paintings they have in Brooklyn? All the pilgrims would laugh their asses off!

ok i was just blown away when i heard this today while driving, at first i thought it was the some old same old but then it went on and it seems like it is on a different level.. the subheading is "guard your heart by exercising self-control.

on page 27 par 17 it says "one way a person could wonder into the foolish course of the "young man in want of heart" is by aimlessly flipping though television channels or surfing the internet.

whether intentionally or not, he might chance upon sexually stimulating scenes.

The internet is like most cities.. it has the safe areas (wired.com), the "OK" (totalprosports.com) areas and the red-light/you-will-get-shot-if-you-hang-around-here (xxxxx.xxxx.com or something) areas. Unless you're venturing into the obvious red-light areas, you won't be finding any porn. And, unless your PC gets a virus or some nice malware installed via email (which should be avoidable with basic PC education), you have to actively seek it out. It rarely, if ever, finds you.

Does John 3:16- disprove core JW beliefs

i have been amazed time again at what i find simply reading the bible, free of jw footnotes.

recently i read the first five or six chapters of john's gospel and found some things that stood out.

of course i'm sure i'm not the first, second or one hundreth to note this, but its all part of the process .

I simply adore the Book of John. Similar to the Book of Galatians, try and read it all in one sitting. It might make your head spin.

My new favourite passage in John is John 1:12,13 (NWT) ;

"However, as many as did receive him, to them he gave authority [the "right" in HCSB] to become God’s children, because they were exercising faith in his name; 13 and they were born, not from blood or from a fleshly will or from man’s will, but from God."

Keeping in mind the contents of the entire first chapter, by whose authority could Jesus hand adoptive sonships out to people? That blew my mind.

on jwfacts, there is a quote that points the emphesis that the watchtower places on certain chapters of the bible.

5 chapters are mentioned specifically, with matthew 24 being the dominant occurance.

this chapter focuses on "the last days" as well as the "faithful and discreet slave.

Flickering light eh? But seriously, some of these are SO obvious. I remember always reading about the Sodom and Gomorroh new light fiasco. I mean, did they skip over John 5:29 entirely? It says clearly what will happen.

As for Romans 13 and the superior authorities, I can't even imagine the reasoning needed to see how the superior authorities are anything BUT earthly rulers. I mean, it seem so clear in the scripture.
