WHY ARE BAT VIRUSES SO DEADLY?- Science Daily.
by fulltimestudent inuseful information for students of history - why are bat viruses so deadly.. a bat virus may be responsible for the highly infectious coronavirus respiratory illness in wuhan china.. long ago, when i was growing up in a tiny fishing village on the far south coast of new south wales, some people still ate flying foxes, which were a type of bat.
they were kept in cages "to fatten them up," then killed and cooked.
i do not recall any specific sicknesses that may have swept that village.. other wild creatures were also eaten.

When China sneezes ..... !!!!!!
by fulltimestudent ini'm being a smartarse with that title.
its a play on an old saying in ozland (australia) which was, "when the usa sneezes, australia gets pneumonia" which was meant to describe the economic clout of the usa on the economic life of australia.. but first, a (hopefully) quick personal story.
two weeks ago, i went with some chinese friends to a house auction in hurstville (a suburb in sydney, which is now a popular suburb for cantonese speaking chinese).

I don't want to be a Jehovah's Witness anymore, but I'm scared of losing my family- Story On Australia's ABC
by fulltimestudent inthe abc is a government owned media group, and today's web-page included this story:.
its formatted as answers to specific questions, and in response to the question, "why did you stop believing" comes a story we hear much too often.. the special thing about the story this time is that likely millions of australian will read her story.. https://www.abc.net.au/life/i-dont-want-to-be-a-jehovahs-witness-anymore-or-lose-my-family/11885098.
the article also reminds us that australians are giving up on religion in increasing numbers.. quote: "it seems australians are increasingly giving up on god β or at least religion.. on the last census in 2016, nearly a third of australians (30 per cent) reported they had 'no religion' β the highest number of people ever to do so, and up 11 per cent on 2006.".

Modern Medical Science Heals Blindness Better than Jesus
by fulltimestudent ini posted some time back that i was having vision difficulties.
at sydney eye hospital it was determined that i had no other serious eye problems except a growing cataract.. i was referred to another hospital for a removal of the natural lens in my left eye and its replacement by an artificial lens,.
had that operation a week ago - no problems except my iris did not expand enough to permit the lens procedure, so they had to use hooks to expand it, turning a less than 30 minute operation into a 90 minute procedure.. all very professional and first class treatment.

New Study Claims Children Raised Without Religious Indoctrination show More Empathy and Kindess
by fulltimestudent inthere is a controversial claim in this article, quite different to what christians usually claim.
it interested me, as i often wondered how as jws we could claim to be loving and kind (and certainly some were) yet, be quite callous about those who rejected our message.. you can find this story on this research at:.
