Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I remember, when I was a regular pioneer... my congregation had 8 pioneers. A few were wives of elders. One of these elders (whose wife was a Reg Pio) got a turkey from his job as a Thanksgiving gift. They decided since we all were off from work that day, why not have a "get together"? The sister cooked the turkey with all the traditional side dishes - stuffing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and invited the other 7 of us over there. It was the most delicious turkey dinner I have ever had! During the dinner we all kept laughing and saying, "I bet the neighbors [or the brothers] would think we're celebrating Thanksgiving if they saw us..."
But of course we weren't...we were just having a get-together and eating food... we sort of joked about it among ourselves for quite some time afterward.
Anyway, this year I am doing something extravagant for Thanksgiving. You see, every year (since my "freedom") my brother invites me to his home, and some friends invite me to theirs. I alternate each year; one year I go to my brothers and the next year to this friend's home. This friend...he and his wife get up very early and cook 2 turkeys (2 different recipes) and all the go-withs, then they drop all that food off at their church where others have a dinner for the homeless. Then my friend and his wife return home and cook 2 more turkeys and all the go-withs, and have their own dinner with friends and family. It is wonderful! But this year since I am a pilot I am flying myself to another city, and my brother and his family will meet me there, and we'll eat at a restaurant that this other friend owns and is the chef there. Meanwhile the other friends will save some leftovers for me; I will visit them Friday and take them flying after I eat over there.

Name Some Stupid Organization/ Congregation Rules
by minimus inthere's a lot of them!.
one rule is you can't wear a tee shirt with writing on it if you are working at a quick build kh .
nothing with logos.. let's add more stupid rules that were in your hall or that the organization has.. .

Really, EVERY congregation rule is stupid...because those who make the rules are stupid. Those who follow them are stupid. Stupid becomes the norm among them.

Info on publisher cards???
by OneDayillBeFree inso i moved to another hall to better help me fade.
so far it's been great although it is a very long and annoying process!
so i'm very good friends with the coordinating elder in the new hall since we've known each other for years and so instead of mailing them to the other hall he decided to pass them on to my dad so he could give them to me and for me to give them to the other hall.

Please tell us, exactly what information is on a publisher card? I would guess Name/address/phone number, date of immersion, other sheep or annointed. But what else? Does it contain notes, let's say, if the publisher had been reproved X number of years ago, or if their hours are low etc.

Study Edition given out on 'the doors'(TM)
by punkofnice ina good friend of mine who was never a jdub entertains the jws at his door and enjoys a friendly debate with them.. my friend is an atheist/agnostic (let's not get too picky on defenitions here).. the jws see him as fodder for the kingdom hell.
he tells them he knows me and they make no negative comments about me.
obviously they don't want to put him off methinks.. he was given a 'study edition'(tm) to my surprise.. he read it.

As for giving out the Study edition to householders....yes they're not supposed to. But some witnesses do anyway. Same with Organized to Accomplish Our Ministry and other such publications. They don't care as long as they're placing something that they can "count". Some have even given songbooks as gifts and counted them as placements.

I've also heard witnesses tell householders, "Why don't you believe in Jehovah? He believes in you."

Your reaction if they drop the shunning policy?
by jam inhow would you react toward those family members that.
have treated you like you had leprosy.
for years didn,t.

Wouldn't matter to me. I left them. I don't have any family members in, and therefore have never been shunned by anyone that matters to me.
However let's pretend for a moment that I did have relatives in, and that they have shunned me for years. I would "forgive" them and asscoaite with them because that might help them realize how much they had been mislead, to their own loss not mine.
