We don't agree on deities though... Freyja is the best!
when i saw simons thread and the "interview" series of threads that came from it i really enjoyed reading the life stories of those that shared.
a bump for newer people seems like a good idea and i figured i would add mine as well.
again, thanks to simon for the concept of a guided interview thread and the template.. tell us a little about yourself and your family.. hmmm... easy question, hard answer.

i know of 1 that watched the video and never went back.. i think for some it was a the sum of the total or the "last straw" if you like.. karter..
I live in the Pacific Northwest, and I recently had a JW contact me. Initially she had a minor question related to business. But then she shifted the subject.
She said she didn't know exactly why we'd left, but that she wanted us to know that she knew us well enough to figure that we only would have left for a good reason.
She made an allusion to WTBTS "bad policies". I immediately referred to the child abuse problem. I told her that it was one of the reasons that I'd resigned as an elder. At this point she kind of went off on the subject. We had a good discussion. At one point during the chat I asked her, "Do you realize that even though we're talking together about things that are true, if the elders heard us we'd be treated worse than child molesters?" She answered, "Yeah, wow, that's true."
At one point in the conversation I asked her if she had read any of the court transcripts of these abuse cases. She was quiet for a minute and then said, "We've watched the ARC." I said "all of it?", she replied "Yes."
They are not 100% out as far as I can tell, but the ARC definitely had a big impact.

Fellow Oregonian wishing you the best!
i'm having one of those days where i feel lonely and wish i had someone to just hang out with.
my husband got disfellowshipped 3 years ago and even though i didn't do anything wrong i was pushed away.
my so called "friends" decided to avoid me.
FWIW, one thing that really helped us, was that when one of us was down and not feeling like working on making friends, the other one was usually on an upswing and would insist that the one who was down would get out there.
Maybe we just got lucky in that.
At one point, early on, there was a new music director at the college where my wife works who teaches classical guitar at a higher level than anyone else in the area. I'd quit taking lessons quite a while before because there wasn't anyone who was teaching what I needed.
My wife said, "Do you want to take lessons?". I said, "Maybe next year or something... I'm too stressed with everything going on."
She said, "I think that's a big mistake. This guy might only be here a year or two."
I listened to her, and I've taken lessons for six or seven years from him and even had nice paying gigs as a result. Concentrating on the guitar was a great distraction from leaving the Watchtower.
A year ago he told me to stop paying for my lessons, because I'm more of a friend than a student. He's planning on putting together a band and asked if I want to be in it.
The point is, get out there! Even when you don't feel like it!

If you can, become a volunteer for something you are interested in or care about. My wife and I started volunteering for a local nature reserve that we love. We've developed quite a few friends through that.
Also, through work.
It takes time and effort though.
Just a few years ago my wife would start crying, saying, "How are we going to make friends? We're going to end up being lonely old people."
Now, we have the opposite problem, and have to say no to things so we have a little time for ourselves.
It took a while though. We've been out for eight years.
i don’t care about it unless someone runs on a record of being a model family man or woman.. does it bother you if a president or princess or top government official “cheats “??
?.
Nice post Outahere. Maybe you're not my cousin Jimmy!

Usually, the holier you pretend to be, the phonier you are.
I agree Minimus... I thoroughly enjoy how he's suckered the self righteous religious types. Pure genius!
To answer the question, no I don't personally care about peoples sex/personal lives as long, as Simon already said, "they are not hurting someone, breaking laws or corrupt."
I would add, and if doesn't mess with my personal life.
The Frogs kind of have that one figured out, it doesn't even matter to them if their president has a mistress while he's in office.
what i'm saying is the white race is the only one that has a verity of eye and hair colors , so what gives?
is it that this race was influenced genetically by a group of pre humans that didn't mix with other races?
.
Outahere, you sure you ain't my cousin Jimmy? He disappeared a spell back what with the drugs n shit. But I 'member clear as a bell he liked guns a lot and didn't care much for the dark skinned folk.
But give 'im a mentally handicapped white chick and he'd be all over that shit. Easy pickens he'd say.
Jimmy? Is that you?

Outahere's post is funny considering he seriously posted the word "ackshully" a while back...

White trash dumbfuck... (Y'all, I kin say that cuz I comes from white trash, yeehaw!)
i have never understood the hatred and dislike towards jewish people.
so many people are bothered by jewish influence.. do you have anti jewish bias?
.
One of the first friends we made when my wife and I left Watchtower world was an Israeli born Jew.
She really helped us (esp. my wife) get through those early tough times. Plus, she could relate to us a little, like being the only kid in school (she grew up in the US) that didn't celebrate Christmas etc.
On top of that she had degrees in sociology and cultural anthropology, so she was fascinated with our background. She'd talk with us for hours about our kampf (I'd say that jokingly to her).
Anyway, I never had an anti Jewish bias, in spite of coming from a crazy redneck family.
In fact, I was disappointed when I did a DNA test and didn't have even a smidge of Jewish ancestry. 100% boring ultra Nordic/Germanic blood here...
