exactly a year ago today, i made my first post on jw net.. this then prompted me to disassociate from the jw cult and get my life back.. it's been a rollercoaster year but i can honestly say, after 12 months, i am in a much better place than i was a year ago.. it was the best thing i ever did.

no regrets.

life is hard but good too!!.

Ever notice how JW's can attend a talk or Convention and remember nothing?

how many times have you asked a jw who has attended a public talk how the talk was, only to be told it was so great!

yet they cannot remember the title nor any one single point except that the brother was "funny" or was good with illustratiions or some other vauge point?

and conventions weren't far off either.

do any UK members--of a certain age---recall when Knorr made a special visit over here---back in the late 60 's ?

it was a mid-week evening thing--not an assembly weekend---and resulted in 1000's turning up at a football stadium in London. the cong i was in ( in my mid-teens )---organised a coach trip.

knorrs main punch line was : YOU MUST NOT FORGET

ive never forgotten it. just cant remember anything else about it--or why it was done. but it stuck in my mind--YOU MUST NOT FORGET

WT Study Article Nov. 23, 2014--Adam understood "day" to be 24 hours

interesting admission in today's wt: adam may have understood "day" (as in "in the day you eat from it, you will positively die") to be a literal 24-hour period.

i don't think the wt has ever said this before; the usual emphasis is that jah meant it as a figurative day, a day from his standpoint which is 1,000 years (and the article does state that, later).. however, if adam understood god's warning to be carried out in a 24 hour period, and god did nothing to alleviate that, then who did the lying?

actually, regardless of adam's understanding, the question still stands but moving toward an admission of the use of day in that context to be 24-hours only makes the question even more valid.

i found this article interesting & just wanted to share.

after going through my teenage years trying to be the perfect jw, i realized that trying to live up to the standards imposed on me have been for worse & not for better.

i was feeling miserable, repressed, unfulfilled, with a great lack of self confidence & self esteem.

we were both pioneers when we got married---and virgins---me 20---her 19. i know i was getting married in order to have sex---me and--how many--? --other jw couples.

after a few months i just knew i didnt love her. in fact--didnt even like her. back then--JW marriage guidance was non-existant. But--i'd made my bed--so got on with it. i quit the cult at age 23---when our first kid was on the way. we went on to have 2 more.-----one conceived in 1975 as my committment to the future.

after 13 years of this marital prison --i strayed--with the help of a sister in my wifes congregation. a quick divorce followed---and i was free.

ive been married twice since--plus numerous liaisons. sex has always been of paramount importance in my life------i just regret i got duped into marrying for the worst reason---thanks to cult upbringing.

a letter was read today from bethel addressed to all congregations in britain that can only be described as the biggest news for years.the main points:.

sell the hall to a bank--pocket the dosh---then lease it back

the congregation would have to pay the rent --of course.

i have a question for any still going to meetings but no longer a believer.. is there any situation or announcement that would cause you to.

draw your line in the sand and walk away?.

if so, what would be your "last straw" moment?.

the only thing that's holding me back is elderly parents.

yes--i suspect this is quite common. i was lucky--my dub parents never turned their back on me--although they suffered the consequences to a degree.

however---there is a double whammy here for the cult:

when these elderly parents pass on--the wts will lose those members--------which will then leave the doubting younger generation free to quit ---so double losses for the cult. good result.
