Saturday morning field service is a joke

i havent been going door to door saturday mornings for since i can't remember when.

i have been putting in regular reports to the congregation but the last time i actually went on a door was probably six months ago or so and it has been at least 2 years since i did a saturday morning.

9:30 we showed up to the group arrangement, we waited outside because we were not sure that it was the right place.

you could have written this thread 50 years ago---nothing has changed. we all had " back-calls" to fall back on.

Turning My House in to A Ex-JW Gathering Church, Will it bug my JW Neighbors?

i am thinking of turning my house in to a ex-jw meeting place, getting bar, pool tables, ping-pong, foseball, pinball and kegs of beer on tap.

big screen singles pad for the local ex-jws to visit and hang out.

will this bug all the jws who live near by me, do they get weird around known apostates?.

i've been doing some research about famous witnesses.

some were raised and eventually left, while others came in as adults.

they range from sports players, musicians, and entertainers.

i'd already heard of---years ago--most of those on the list who are UK based---so --on the balance of probabilty i'd say that list is pretty accurate. so few of them still are jw though.

Ken Richmond ( dec'd )---the man who banged the gong on Rank movies---was a circuit sevant in the UK in the late 60's. he and his wife sometimes stayed at my parents house. i met him a few times.

Witnesses and care of the elderly

my uber jw mother fell and broke her arm a couple of weeks ago.

first off no one told me until 5 days later when i called to check in with her.

there was someone staying with her at the time but that person was going to have to go elsewhere for a week.

my 93 y o jw dad is in a care home. i visit him 3-4 times a week--i did today. last year a local elder and wife visited him a few times---as did a 90.y o sis who lived nearby. shes died now. ( her non-jw son called in to tell my dad the news --good of him. ) no-one else has been to see him this year.

its as if theyve written him off. he was baptised 52 years ago--same time as me -i was 14.

How would you answer?

a friend of mine (who is waking up), recently had the elders do a sheep herding visit.. they were browbeating my friend about attending meetings.

my friend has been ill and unable to attend anyway.. what response would you give to this garbage?.

if we were in a house and it was on fire and we couldnt walk we would have to crawl.. an example of a sister with an iron lung was brought up to show that if shes in this condition, we need to examine ourselves.

"You can't Disfellowship me ......."

if i ever get the threat of being df'd i think i will say :.

" the religion i left a few years ago no longer exists, you can't disfellowship me from a religion that i never had fellowship in !"..

i know this will make no difference at all, as would whatever i said if they had made up their minds, but it would point out how very very silly the whole idea would be.. any other ideas to briefly sum up what a stupid thing dfing is ?.

back in '81 i had an affaire with a married sister--she was d'f d for this. apparantly--after it was announced-----my name was mentioned--but the cong was told i couldnt be d'f d---as i had already resigned years before. i bet that really tore the elders a new one lol.

My jw mum threw us out.

my brother (non-jw but became a christian 6 months ago) and i nursed my aged jw mother back to a semblance of strength over the last three weeks.. the elders were happy to pass the buck on to me, her da'd daughter and my bro.. he has been living with her for 3 months and has transformed her ill-kept home and garden and literally nursed her like a professional alone.

before i stepped in to help him care for her.

he repeatedly told her how much he loved her and was so caring, it brought a lump to my throat.. he has been going to church sunday mornings, telling her he 'was meeting up with friends' so as not to cause friction.but she knew where he had been.. we noticed a shift in her demeanour towards us (she knows i'm a church-goer) over the week-end and she started to.
