toughest question anyone can ask, if the love of your life, and mate/wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend messed around on you, whether it be once or for years, how would you handle it and what would you do, think about it slowly and carefully.. wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy.. it's said that 50 % of marriages are affected by an affair, it's probaly alot higher.. did you notice any affairs in your congregation ???.

Do we ever fully recover from such a breach of trust? And should we? Yes, we should, because then we would all be fully evolved, lovely empathetic human beings. Fact - we are human, we get hurt, sometimes we live with some part of that hurt for the rest of our lives. Just because you are consenting adults doesn't mean you aren't vulnerable. I feel for Stilla & everyone else, who are still coming to terms with the situation. Some residual hurt might always be there because we're human. (That's a cop-out, I know, but it's troooooooo!)
i was recently talking to a girl in my psychology class who told me that she use to be a jw and was df'd in the mid 1990's.
this girl shocked me because usually ex-jws are so unhappy and miserable and spend most of their time complaining about the "evil" wt society.
she told me that when she was df'd alot of ex-jws swarmed towards her trying to get her to "bash" the wt but she refused.
I agree with most responses here - why is talking about the society openly seen as 'bashing'? Because it is all negative?! Why is all negative talk seen as 'apostate'?
The facts are there & need to be talked about, constantly, particularly in light of child abuse victims & victims of shunning. The WTS continues to inflict pain on individuals - sometimes lifelong pain. The only sort-of cure is openness, being able to communicate, both between ourselves & to others. It is a form of therapy for us & a way of warning others & protesting against the wrongs.
I think your friend is tarring everybody with an 'unhealthy obsession apostate' brush - she obviously hasn't come to terms with her experience, because she did not talk about it openly in class.

That is a widely-believed myth. Hitler himself was non-religious, even though nominally Catholic. He sometimes encouraged neo-paganist ideas amongst his followers, but also persecuted professed pagans.
Hitler was on a big power trip, & when it comes down to it, that was about all he believed in. It might pay to get your facts right before you criticise other people.
