Yes, I have a bit of trouble with that! Meek & subservient isn't really my thing!

New and need a question answered before I post any other questions
by soundbox_guy inokay, first off, let me get this straight...you guys are all witnesses, some all active, some do things all the way right, some don't do things all the way right?
some are by the book but not preachy, and some are witnesses that are rogue and do things their own way?
i just want to know before i post any doubts or concerns or anything because even though i know we're supposed to stay away from places like this on the internet, i don't want what i say somehow getting back to my congregation somehow and next thing you know 4 elders come busting through the door waving "no blood" cards and shouting "freeze, jehovah's witnesses!

INLAWS
by Es inwhat is it with the majority of inlaws that seem to thrive on making your life hell???
?my fiance's mother is really getting to me ive put up with a year of her opinions thrown in my face and year of her telling me how to raise my son.
she has completely taken over our wedding day and at our engagement her daughter who is also my bridesmaid turned up 2 hours late to our engagement party drunk and brought her friends and had her own little party, it aslso took her another hour to come and say hi to me!!!

Es, she sounds like a bit of a dragon! Love for her son shouldn't equal exclusion or outright joy when you 2 are fighting! I have had similar problems ... My hubby has narcolepsy which has only begun to publicly occur since I've known him & she practically blamed the stress of being with me! 'Yes, it's my fault your son has a hereditary neurological condition!'

Pass the Jesus I need a hit!
by free2beme ini hate to say this, as there may be some here that fit this description, but people deep into jesus with all that saved talk and accepting jesus talk, look the same as the person trying to get me to take a hit on the bong.
these people seem stoned hard core and in la-la land of some fantasy and wonder why others don't want to ride the crazy train with them.
personally, i find these people to be almost alien to me, in that they seem so into their religion of "save" and "accept" this, that there is no reasoning or even discussing a different subject with them.

Yes, Marx I think. Kindof ironic that marxism became a form of secular religion!

Es, I'm feeling your pain! I bitched about my mother-in-law up until about 3 months ago (I've been with my husband for almost 4 years!) Then I started spending more time with her, because I had to drop my daughter off there once a week, & we actually started to develop our own relationship. Amazing, I know I still grumble, but I don't mean it as much as I once did!
If your MIL isn't actually certifiable, maybe you could just go & get coffee together one day - make her feel like you wouldn't mind spending some time just with her so that she can get to know you. It worked with mine, anyway, & we actually spent 20 minutes on the phone together last night!

Terry, spot-on post!
I am sick of religion, I am sick of religious people, I am sick of religious thought, I am sick of religious structure, I am sick of religious misogynism, I am sick of religion butting into secular life, I am sick of religion.
I'm also fascinated by the above on an academic level - but on a personal level, count me out!

Ignorant Dub Friend Just Don't Get It

i explained to him that i'm agnostic too.
it was soo frustrating, he just couldn't get it.

Tetra, your experience with your friend is similar to mine with my closest dub friend. We used to criticise the dubs, talk about education etc etc When I left, I had lunch with her & talked about Crisis of Conscience. She is such an intelligent, lovely girl & we were even talking about moving to Melbourne together in order to leave together & get out of our home town. Then, a couple of weeks later, I got a letter saying that she couldn't be friends with me etc etc. I've tried contacting her a few times since but just keep getting rejection after rejection. I sms'd her about a month ago 'Open your eyes. I give up.'
GBL, I feel exactly the same. I wish to god someone had told me stuff when I was a dub - I would have run the hell out of there a lot sooner!

We touch each other...
by MerryMagdalene in.
...in so many ways, some known to us, others remaining unknown and unrecognised, sometimes for years, sometimes forever.. so, my question is: would you rather know of the ways in which your presence effects others or would you prefer such things not be drawn to your attention?
recognition or anonymity?.

Soundbox, I tried to be a good Witness for a long time, too. But it is a thankless task & no one will care if you just up sticks & go chasing skirt. And you'll be a lot happier!
From the female perspective: imagine being outnumbered by about 20:1 male to female, & if a guy was halfway decent (ie ms, pioneer material), the ratio was about 50:1! And sisters don't get those cosy chats with elders - they are just expected to clean toilets, pioneer & look hard for a good husband!
