jehovah's witnesses have recently done an about-face on their teachings about god, the bible, creation and evolution, and are about to announce major changes in their teachings on these things.
on their website, they say that "faith in god is merely an emotional experience.
" "god is not an explanation" of the universe, they now teach.. as regards the question of origins, "our universe is all a matter of chance.
Alan,
Scholar,
Please give this your best shot. Will you?

can't wait ... it's like being a kid again !.
christopher eccleston is the new (and 9th) dr and was previously in the excellent "second coming" (where he played christ who reappear at maine road ... you really had to see it, lol).
if anyone calls me, i'm not in .
Hey Simon,
Thanks for the announcement. I'm not really into it but the kids watched it religiously for years. I have it on satelite but now the kids are grown up and on their own. Maybe this will get them to come by once a week.

Five years? That's quite long! So when are you going to pack it in and get on with real life?
Dude! HE HAS. So when are YOU "going to pack in in and get on with the real life?

as a kid i remember reading a peanuts cartoon where woodstock is telling snoopy a dream he had, and snoopy rolls his eyes and said, "i hate it when people tell me their dreams.
" so with that in mind ...

seeing this is the 5th anniversary of jwd, i was curious as to how many who still post here, were dyed in the wool jws, but later sucumbed to "the truth about the truth" .
were an active/semi-active jw, and this site and others were enough to convince you that your doubts had substance.
I was an elder looking for truth.
Found it and real friends.

enough of the wts intimidation and getting away with all sorts of crap.
we, "the people", have more power than they, "the establishment", do.. this year i propose that we make ourselves heard and noticed.
that as many people as possible protest at their beloved memorial - the one event that is "most sacred" to them.. i am not suggesting that we disrupt or do anything illegal but simply that we exercise our right to take up their offer of free wine and make a statement.. go, drink.
Hello Awake,
He did get spanked and sent to his room by grandma Grace.
So, an interesting first post. Care to share further how you feel?

Simon,
I checked the link, your first post, JWD's first post. And to think you were Brother Green then. Awe well, I was a brother then too, still conducting studies and proudly watching them get baptised.
While the past five years is a landmark for your baby, JWD, just look how we, as individuals, have all grown since then.
Go ahead and discuss among yourselves, I'm getting a little misty now.

week starting april 18th
15 min: living w/ soundness of mind in an electronic age.
HE HE,
I had the servicemeeting part for the Nov 1999 KM. My research for that part is why I'm here!
Found H2O and switched the JWD shortly after. The Watchtower paranoia only gets the smart and curious looking around. The rest don't care and would not leave no matter what evidence you present to them.

but the article quoted below makes an excellent point about american protectionism.
i will quote the first three paragraphs of steven e. landsburg of the university of rochester.
the article is "xenophobia and politics ?
Ok Robert,
My thinking about environmental, child labor, food and drug laws are rooted in the idea that each person owns himself and should be able to enter contracts to sell his labor or buy goods and services from whomever he wishes and that the only function of government is to protect citizens from force or fraud.
I agree with most of this. I should even be angry about govt regs. My son finished high school at 16, and started college at 17. However he, although a volunteer fireman, cannot go on live runs until he is 18. Although he has finished real estate school, he cannot become a realtor until he is 18. Your view of hands off might benefit him.
But something must be put in place to avoid the child abuse in the work force typical of the 1800's. And unfortunately, we cannot leave this to parents in general as some parents suck. What do you have in mind to protect minors without needlessly restricting their freedom?
