Adventures at the District Convention
by RunningMan inwell, after a 15 month absence from the kingdom hall, i once again found myself in the biggest kingdom hall of all the district convention.
as in previous years, the material presented was dull and repetitious, so once again, i was forced to provide my own entertainment.

Do You Feel That Your Parents "Did a Good Job" Raising You?
by minimus inbeing raised a witness, my mother has asked me whether or not i held her responsible for her bringing me up in the way that she has.
i feel that my upbringing is something my mother can be proud about.
even though i do not believe in the "truth", i do feel that she did a good job of raising us.

Hi:
I was raised as a JW. And, I would have to say that given the JW background my parents did the best they could. Of course, both of my parents were raised in situations that were abusive themselves. We did not have the physical abuse but the mental and spiritual abuse that we received from the JWs through them was not pleasant.

Sale of 360 Furman Bldg.

i was serving at bethel not long after 360 furman was purchased.
i helped do some of the interior and exterior painting on that bldg.

I was serving at Bethel not long after 360 Furman was purchased. I helped do some of the interior and exterior painting on that bldg. I worked on the Paint and Scaffold crew and our home offices were in that bldg.
I also remember that they had a very elaborate system for the shipping department there.
Anyone else remember 360 Furman?
It looks like the WTS can sell that bldg for about 120 million dollars US.

"Reinstatement Party" Called Off Per The Society
by minimus ina number of weeks ago, i mentioned how my niece was seeking reinstatement.
well, after all was said and done, the elders allowed her back in.
my brother and his wife were giving her a little "coming back" party with about a total of 35 guests.

I am surprised that the Society is handing out something like this. It would seem to me that this could lead to some type of legal liability for them.

Are JW's prejudice ??? 15 questions (not talking about race)
by run dont walk in, what do you think ............ 1) will a jw parent allow their son/daughter date someone who is not a jw ???.
2) will a jw parent allow their son/daughter marry someone who is not a jw ???.
3) will a jw parent allow their kids to socialize with other kids after school or weekends ???.

When I was a JW, my cousin married a hispanic gentleman. He was asked to do work for a prominent couple in the congregation. Something happened and some valuables disappeared from this prominent couples' home. They accused my cousin's husband of stealing it but they were very "understanding" because of his ethnic background. Evidently they believed that since he was hispanic he could not help himself....By the way, the valuables were never stolen. The wife I believe had misplaced them.

Someone once told me that what they do when the JWs come to the door is tell them that they are on the phone and that they will come back to the door and talk with them "soon". At that point they leave the door slightly ajar and let them wait for long periods of time. I think they are trying to make a point but I doubt if the average JW gets it.

Wow! I agree with the rest of the peanut gallery. If your daughter were my child they would not be seeing my child again without a major apology and even after that they would not be seeing my child again unless they were supervised.

Any of you guys heard of John Mason? He served in the southern USA in Southeastern Louisiana. He was a trip.
A bunch of teenagers in our congregation took a trip to the French Quarter in New Orleans. My brother go caught french-kissing one of the elder's daughters who went on the trip. My brother who was not baptized got called before the elders and Mason for a judicial hearing. Mason ran the show and had my brother convicted for loose conduct before he even entered the room. One of the craziest comments that Mason said to my brother as counsel was that 'French-kissing is such an unclean expression of affection that Christian married couples do not even engage in that practice'. This guy was really uptight.
