Weird "new world" artwork from the 2013 calendar
by cedars inmy mother-in-law has a strange obsession with calendars, and orders the society's calendar each year.
this year's calendar is especially weird.
it features images depicting future events - in particular, the society's vision of the new world order.. i've taken the opportunity to scan some of the images for you all to check out.. please note - there are captions for each of the images, but i don't have the english language version of the calendar so i'd rather just quote the scripture used so as not to reveal which country i'm in.. .

I was talking to a JW the other day and the conversation turned to the extremes in weather, as some parts of the world are experiencing blizzards while others are coping with heatwaves and forest fires. She told me it be lovely when that won't happen any more (no more extremes in temperature).
I was puzzled until I saw these pictures, she obviously has this calendar on her wall and believes that in the New System everwhere will be one nice tropical temperature wherever you live on the earth. After all, the GB in their wisdom have chosen not to show any nasty snow or ice anywhere.
All I can say is, poor polar bears and poor penguins

Old time JW's did some very devout JW's refuse to eat pizza with pepperroni because they believed "blood" was in the pepperroni?
by booker-t ini have never heard this before until i read a life story of an ex-jws and how some jws in the past refused to eat pepperoni pizza because they thought blood was in pepperoni.
i do know some elderly jw sisters would complain about eating steak if it bled while cooking.
has anybody else heard of this pizza nonsense?.

Here in the UK during the 60s and early 70s I can remember being told to check every packet and tin for the word lecithin before buying it. Rumour had it that manufacturers even sneaked blood into ice cream and I can remember dubs going up to ice cream vendors asking if there was any blood in it before buying. I may have actually done it myself (ahem). The looks of stunned disbelief on the vendors' and customers' faces was hilarious!
My mil once asked a butcher if his turkeys had been bled or strangled before buying one. He burst out laughing and asked her if she could imagine the poor person having the job of strangling full grown turkeys. You really couldn't blame people for thinking JWs were nut jobs!!
Some sisters in my congregation were convinced the powers that be would start injecting fruit and vegetables with blood in order to try and starve Jehovah's people to death, and that would be our tribulation. You couldn't make this stuff up

Argument against a GLOBAL Flood
by enigma1863 inhow many people existed before the biblical flood?
in the bible from adam to noah they have around 1600-1700 years.
adam had at least three children (one dies and not counting the daughters) in a 930 year life span.

Yes, but post flood people would never have seen saber tooth tigers or woolly mammoths would they?

If they were done after the flood, why would people go to all the trouble of painting explicit hunting scenes on cave walls involving how to kill extinct animals? Which ever way you look at it, it doesn't make sense.

How can believers explain all the ancient cave paintings of extinct animals such as woolly mammoths, saber tooth tigers etc etc? The paintings were done using water soluble materials and would never survive being under water for months on end.
I believe I am right in saying they have had to section some of the famous cave paintings in France away from sight seers as even the moisture from peoples' breath was causing them to fade.

Lost my best friend (man's best friend)
by Coffee House Girl injust wanted to write a tribute to my best friend whom i lost last week, it was one of the most painful experiences i have ever been through.
i have no children, my puppy was my child.
i got him from a golden retriever rescue organization when he was 2. he was recovering from a car accident, still a bit skiddish, but he chose me to take him home (the foster mom said that he never responded to anyone like he did me).. he was always happy to see me, greet me with a toy in his mouth, he never judged me, never cared whether i was "bad association", he was always there when i needed to smile and remembe that i was not alone in the world.

Dear Coffee House Girl, my eyes filled with tears reading your post. I know exactly how you feel, I was with our Golden when he had to be put to sleep and it broke my heart in two. The pain was unbearable. He was nearly 14 years old but we still affectionately called him our 'puppy' . As you say, they love us unconditionally and never judge us like humans. The whole family was inconsolable for a long time and my son couldn't work for a week he was so devastated, he just lay on his bed surrounded by puppy's toys and photos. The sight of my son grieving so badly made my pain even worse to bear.
It will take time to heal, and your lovely dog will always have a very special place in your heart, but you obviously have a lot of love to give to another lucky dog when you feel ready.
My heartfelt love and commiserations to all fellow doggy people on this board who know the pain of losing their best friend, or indeed the pain of losing any beloved pet whatever the species, they are all special.
