Bible Error: The Visit to the Tomb
by JosephAlward inthe following two accounts of the morning visit by the women to anoint jesus body are contradictory.
according to mark, the women wondered how they would remove the stone covering the tomb, but they found that it had already been rolled away.
matthew, however, says that when the women went to the tomb, there was an earthquake, and an angel came down from heaven, went to the tomb, and rolled the stone back.

Irony in Mark
by JosephAlward intaking care of the son of god.
mark creates a story in which mary thinks that jesus is out of his mind, and must be taken charge of (mark 3:14-21, 31).
next to god himself, the last person one would expect to reject jesus' divinity would be his mother.

Are the Gospel Stories Fictional?
by JosephAlward inthere is abundant evidence that marks stories are fictional.
in this post, i will explain how marks story of jesus miraculous feeding of the five thousand (mark 6:32-42) was copied from scripture.. at the beginning of his story, mark wants his readers to believe that his jesus is just as compassionate as the lord, so he introduces him as a person who was just as concerned as the lord is for people who are like sheep without a shepherd.
the lord is my shepherd, i shall not be in want.

Were the Gospel Writers Really Eyewitnesses?
by JosephAlward inin defense of the inerrancy of the bible, many believers make the assertion that the gospel writers wrote about what they witnessed firsthand.
let's consider the case of the gospel called "mark.
" the writer of those jesus stories does not tell us he walked and talked with jesus, or that he witnessed any of the events he described, so why should we not believe that he was only reporting what someone else said happened, or perhaps what he thought should have happened to fulfill scripture?.

Liars for the Watchtower?
by JosephAlward inwere they liars for the watchtower?
some forum members have made much of the letter from the portuguese branch of the jehovahs witnesses, explaining why the watchtower affiliated with the united nations department of public information; they believe it contradicts a similar letter from britain.
in this post i rebut that argument.

There are No Annointed Ones
by JosephAlward ini've been reading posts to this forum for about four months, and i've been continually struck by the extraordinary number of forum members who consistently spell "anointed" incorrectly as "annointed.
" i estimate that only one time in four is this word spelled correctly in this forum, when it should be ten times in ten.. now, i would be the last to suggest that any of us should ever try to police the spelling of other posters, since what really matters is the message, not the spelling, but this is an extremely important word in jehovah land--or am i wrong about that?
probably no one will care very much if a current or former jw misspells most other words, but not spelling "anointed" correctly, given its extraordinary importance within the jehovah's witnesses' culture, would seem to be no more excusable than not spelling "jehovah" correctly.

The UN Affiliation: Likely Denouement?
by JosephAlward inive found the un affiliation threads very interesting, but ive also expressed the view that this issue will have virtually no effect on jw membership.
i have at least two reasons for believing this.. first, after reading w. j. schnells 1957 book, thirty years a watchtower slave, in which the author describes how the watchtower used negative publicity to increase membership, im now of the opinion that continued commentary on this matter may only serve to foster an even greater conviction on the part of rank and file jws that they are being persecuted, and they will increase their efforts to recruit members; this will offset what i think will be a miniscule number of defections by those who will feel betrayed because of the un affiliation.
the reason why i think there will be few defections is described below.. second, i believe that the watchtower can easily defend itself.

Watchtower Propaganda
by JosephAlward inmany have argued that articles in awake!
in recent years show that watchtower was letting itself be told what do by the purple beast, namely, promote the united nations in its writings.
i can understand how many might quickly find support for this claim, for there are, indeed, many articles in awake!

Genesis Error: The Rainbow Covenant
by JosephAlward inafter the lord had drowned every living thing on the surface of the earth except noah and his family and the animals brought to the ark, he told noah that from that time forth there would be no more apocalyptic floods, and as a token of his good intentions the lord would create the rainbow:.
and god...spake unto noah, and to his sons with him, saying...i establish my covenant with you.... neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.
and god said, this is the token of the covenant which i make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: i do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
