What would you do with an abuse settlement?
by StarTrekAngel inwhat would you do if you were conti or lopez and had a large award?
sure, the options and the tastes are many but consider this.... i don't know if this has already been covered or mentioned but i think there would be no better investment of that money than to put into a non-profit.
on dedicated to seek out and bring forward more cases.

Donations
by FadeToBlack ini think that since i am the sole wage-earner in our household, i need to make it clear to my wife that i don't want any of my hard-earned wages going to the wt.
i know she makes a monthly contribution to an animal shelter and i am fine with that.
what do you think?

FadeToBlack ... my comment was of course on the extreme side while my thoughts were more in line with what Oubliette said. I'm in a similar situation with my wife. I feel for you cuz it really sucks. Best wishes to you on that grown up conversation. I had one with my wife in December hoping it would snap her somewhat into reality but so far no results to speak of. I know longer fit into her everlasting plans, and as a JW I understand that, but why she is willing to throw away 30 years without even thinking about it pisses me off. -

6 branches subsidize the rest of the branches.
by hoser ini went to the meeting this morning and we had some guy from overseas bethel give the public talk.
6 countries subsidize the rest.
he said in some countries all the donations that they get from contributions don't even pay the electricity bill for the branch buildings so money has to come in from these 6 richer countries.

They own billions in real estate and have pocketed a billion in sales of real estate ... surely the interest off of investments should make up for any shortfall. -

I think that is something to discuss, however, I would assume that even though you are the sole wage earner, your wife provides a value to you so that you share your wages with her and she should have some say in the matter.
I would say ... HELL NO ... to donating, but your wife should have some input too.
What's next? Tell her she can't have money to attend the convention or assembly? Take away her freedom to choose her religion?
You could divorce her, pay her alimony, then let her decide where that money is spent without your input.

Now that is is some sick s*^t!
by OneFingerSalute inso the bible reading talks about some "good" appointed man who valued the office more than his wife and turned her over to the crowd to be repeatedly raped until she died.. then the sick hoser dismembers her and sends the body parts around the nation.
later the "faithful" jews from eleven tribes go up to do battle with the one "bad" tribe at god's okay and suffers defeat...twice!
finally the third time god lets them win.. wt says that we have to realize that women were expendable in those days.

I believe she was just a concubine, an even lower position than a lowly wife, and she had been unfaithful .. so, hey, I guess she deserved it. .............................................. (satire intended) -

Lett briefly addresses the child abuse issues in new JW.org video
by Richard_I ini just read about this on the ex-jw subreddit.
link to the video (10m06s).. skip to 7:35 where he says: "another way we can contribute to the oneness - rejecting false stories that are designed to separate us from jehovah's organization.
as an example, think about the apostate-driven lies and 'dishonesties' that jehovah's organization is permissive toward pedophiles.

Would he be prepared to stand in front of a crowd of ex/JWs who have been unnecessarily abused and say what he is saying?
And of course that is a rhetorical question ... we all know the answer to that.
exJW's are the epitome of evil, tools of the devil, dogs that have returned to the vomit. Surely a humble victim who truly loved Jehovah would have waited on Jehovah to fix everything in the New System of Things(tm), those who speak against God's Organization, victim or not, deserve no apology or non-apology, they are the lowest a human being can be.

It's great that they are talking about it. I would think that the average JW that is actually watching their broadcast is the kind that would avoid anything negative in the first place. Now that a GB member brings the subject up, it has been introduced into the indoctrinated mind that probably knew nothing about the problem in the first place. -

Freudian slip in this weeks WT study!
by stuckinarut2 inoh....ok....hahaha...did anyone else pick up on this classic stuff up in the wt for the weekend of 21/22 feb?.
after speaking about the destruction of sodom and gomorrah, paragraph 6 says:.
"only lot and his daughters, who stuck close to him, survived".

One must wonder how, if he was that drunk, could even perform.
The sister's cycles must have been in synch too.
It's in the Bible, it must be true.
