If it has any truth to it, with the way things have gone in Japan with JW's, it should be updated with the girl learning TTATT and lamenting losing her fingers for the stupid cult.

new assembly experience... what do you reckon to this one?
by purrpurr inok so aparently there was this young girl who wanted to study with the jw's because she loved the bible so much.
she asked her fathers permission but he refused, after much nagging though he said she could have a study if she was prepared to have one of her fingers chopped off.
he thought the is would stop her but she was willing so he got a knife and cut off one of her fingers... a little while later she wanted to attend the meetings and he said no and again when nagged said she could attend meetings if she had another finger chopped off so she agreed and he chopped off a second finger.

Awake! to be part of Watchtower Public Edition!
by Atlantis inthis was posted on a jw site and it would be nice if we could verify.. .. .. as of february 2015, the awake!
will come as a part of the watchtower public edition instead of as a separate magazine.
this is a huge change... with serious cost savings.

Would YOU Have Refused Blood To Remain Faithful To Your JW Beliefs?
by minimus ini believe that most witnesses would refuse blood to show their faithfulness to jehovah's law on blood transfusions....( that sounds silly, huh?).

Unfortunately, yes, I am certain that I would have ... fortunately I never had to

When did the WTS begin to require baptismal candidates to answer 2 questions. What were they?
by AndersonsInfo ini need some research done so if anybody has the time, please see what you can find on the subject as stated in the title.. i clearly remember attending my first circuit assembly.
on october 30, 1956, i definitely answered two questions, along with about ten other people including my mother, not at the assembly, but we were standing at the side of a small baptismal pool that was in the basement of a kingdom hall in ronkonkoma, then a small hamlet on long island in the town of islip, suffolk county, new york, united states.. i know for a certainty that in 1945 candidates for baptism were not asked any questions but they were informed through their congregation that there would be a baptism and told where and when it was to be held.
usually the baptism was done at a beach and when candidates showed up in bathing attire, they were dunked, no questions asked.. so sometime between 1945 and 1956 two specific questions began to be asked of candidates.

Baptism Questions
Under Russell baptism candidates were simply asked if they had consecrated themselves to the Lord.
"What are the questions usually put by Brother Russell when receiving candidates for water immersion?
ANSWER.--You will notice that they are on broad lines--questions which any Christian, whatever his confession, should be able to answer in the affirmative without hesitation if he is suitable to be acknowledged as a member of the Church of Christ:
(1) Have you repented of sin with such restitution as you are able, and are you trusting in the merit of Christ's sacrifice for the forgiveness of your sins and the basis of your justification?
(2) Have you made a full consecration of yourself with all the powers that you possess--talent, money, time, influence--all to the Lord, to be used faithfully in His service, even unto death?
(3) On the basis of these confessions, we acknowledge you as a member of the Household of Faith, and give to you as such the right hand of fellowship, not in the name of any sect or party or creed, but in the name of the Redeemer, our glorified Lord, and His faithful followers." What Pastor Russell Said pp.35, 36Later, two questions developed containing reference to the Father, Son and holy spirit, as shown in a scan from the Watchtower 1944 Feb 1 p.44.

My daughter made the comment recently to my wife and older daughter ... "I don't like it, it looks like The 700 Club" (I smiled inside, couldn't help but wonder if she has been finally visiting this site).
other comments I've seen on facebook about JW TV (lots of likes on these comments, but not many others actually making comments)

Doctors and surgeons say no to blood transfusions
by Mr Negative inmy mum recently told me that even surgeons won't have blood transfusions, but the common people don't get told this.
i have also seen or heard others say that a bunch of doctors/health officials/surgeons were asked, at some point, if they would accept a blood transfusion and they all said no.
is this true?

Why not say ... Mum, that is interesting, did you read that in a medical journal? I would really like to see that.

Nobody KNOWS how life got started ... but once started, evidence shows how it progressed ... and that doesn't seem to fit the Bible account.
