i know this one brother who misses loads of meetings, yet when he talks, he sounds very zealous about preaching and finding interested ones.. i can't quite wrap my mind over this - how can you be zealous for service yet hardly turn up at the hall?.
hi truthseeker, i am exactly the type of person you describe in your post. i think it has to do with the bipolar personality. the logic is this: i feel that the meeting is boring and so i miss it.And with whatever time and energy you have saved on you channel that to the field service work
but such thinking seems crazy

if you still have to go to meetings, i sympathize with you.
i know a few that keep up appearances so that they do not lose their loved family members.

i have come to realize that this religion is based almost solely on performance and that is the most dangerous.. i always felt that as a person or jw (while an active witness)that i was always just as good as my last assignment, comment at the watchtower meeting, feild service report.. this left me with a huge identity crisis in the borgorg......... i really didn't know who the hell i was?.

i have read that up to 67% of all jw's leave the religion when they come of age.
so i wish i could know why the others stay.

i stay in the organization. every time i faded, i suffered relapse. aren't you would be frightened ,if you are in my shoes
ok, now here's a question for the other side.
when you finally discovered enough information that resulted in your leaving the watchtower bible and tract society's organization, what convinced you that you just needed to replace it with a better more believanle version instead of questioning the whole concept of an invisible god?.
is it that you find the idea of no afterlife to hard to deal with?

sadly some of them had been in bethel for 5 - 10 years and were still cleaning toilets.. after about 2 years of it i couldn't do it anymore.
i always knew something wasn't quite right with this organization.
i would also like to tell my story: i studied the bible with the jw when i was 12.very quickly i started to apply all that i had learned.i didn't baptized immediately because i felt that i was still young.but once i reached high school i was baptized.i quickly terminated my study at school and immediately went to auxillary pioneer.i did it 1 full year,and then applied for regular pioneer for 1 year.after that i returned to studying in the high school.i was elligible because i still met the age requirement.soon after that i was disfellowshipped because i did not take the neutrality stand(i joined the army)

nineteen eighty-four is in many ways, a very depressing read.. a charge commonly leveled at jehovah's witnesses is that the type of mind control envisioned by orwell has been and continues to be used on them.

i have seen psycholgists and psychiatrists off and for over 20 years and it .
hasnt helped me.
medication works for me.but the problem with me is that i deny that i am sick,and immediately i feel well i would skip the medicine.That is why i keep hearing voices.not untill i take my medicine faithfully have i become much better

i have a couple of questions for anyone who has been reinstated.. what kinds of questions did they ask you?.
if they decided to reinstate you were you told not to discuss why you were dfed, especially if another jw was involved?
i was disfellowshipped for not taking the neutrality stand. the elders asked me if i were called for reservice would i still take the stand .What a joke why would the army accept a mentally illed person to be soldier,isn't that dangerous.
