i know that jehovah's witness say only two birthday celebrations are spoken of in the bible and that neither were held by persons who worshiped jehovah.
or were there any other celebrations that were simular to birthday celebrations?.
inquiring minds need to know.

inform my jw parents of my official stance on "the path they tried to teach us when we were young girls.
" <---(oft-used phrase to try to "guilt" us into coming back as jw's)
it'll be a first and a definite shocker coming from the likes of me...i usually avoid all religious discussion/confrontation on the few occasions i've visited them.
razorMind and Odrade.....would either of you or anyone else that has sent a letter to family, care to share your letters with me?
I have often thought about writing a letter, but frankly, I'm not even sure they would open it.
but as razorMind said: already accepted in my heart that my family will probably never again spend time together under the same roof

the 'flock' book (elders manual) makes this quite clear and upon arriving at your judicial hearing one of the first questions you will be asked is whether you have any recording/transmitting equipment with you.. however, most jw's will have never seen - or even heard of - the 'flock' book.
do a search on the wt cd on recording meetings and you will see that it all pertains to the recording of meetings at the kingdom hall and conventions and that any brother wishing to make such recordings is free to do so so long as the recording equipment is not attached to the society's equipment.
the one question of propriety that is raised has to do with recording prayers.

Thats exactly what the sisters told me...that they have celebrations though out the year... yea, right...

i dont know if im putting this in the rite place.... .
when a young jw teen ( 13-16) disassociates themselves, or is disfellowshipped, will the parents kick them out of the house?
or are they required to let them stay?
This is shunning from my perspective: My dad (elder) has called me a very few times in the past several years. My mom, sister, and brothers have never called me. Here is an example of our last conversation.
Dad: Lisa, your mom is in the hospital for surgery. I thought you’d like to know.
Me: OMG…is everything alright? Can I call her?
Dad: Yes, here’s the #.
Me. Thank you so much for calling. I love you.
Dad: *click
Me: Mom, are you ok?
Mom: yes, I’ll be fine.
Me: Is there anything I can do for you?
Mom: No
Me: I love you

coffee_black said: Just because something bad happened at 2 recorded birthday parties, does not mean that birthday parties are wrong.
Exactly, I told the sisters that those two sited examples they give are simply "examples of how NOT to have a birthday party".
I also told them that there has NEVER been a be-heading at one of the birthday parties I've thrown.
