Abuse
by Eppie inso far i've had so many wonderful replies to my questions that i dare to venture one more here.. i will tell you a story about abuse in my family by a guy that has become an elder lately.
i will however change some details as i am still afraid to be recognised and dfd (i faded away very happily).. about 10 years ago a member of my close family was raped by a guy.
even though he was 'only 16' (this has been said as an excuse which really pisses me off), he was raping her when she was only 7 years old!!!

Isn't that strange?
by Eppie inisnt it strange that within the jw religion (or as i like to call it after reading so many posts here: wbts religion) there are so many differences?
it seems as if they are very similar in their ways all over the world but when you look at it is not always the case.
on the website: www.disfellowshipped.org (as recommended by someone on this site) i found the following sentence:

Eppie,
There is usually one individual who cares in every cong…..sometimes not..but usually at least one.
Thing is…is one person cannot carry a whole cong and so all the stories of heartless situations that occur.
In one cong I was in there was only ONE caring Elder! The poor guy trying to help each member in a loving way…running from this family to that…this single mom to the other!
He eventually had a heart attack! I’m not joking.
At the same time in the same cong since one caring elder is not enough I know of at least 7 single mothers who fled that cong and 3 who ended up homeless!
I know of a fatherless young sister who was dissed when mercy should have been offered and elderly who sit at home alone with NO visitors…..all this in the same cong this one poor Elder was running around in trying to help.
In another cong I attended with lots of young people full of youthful energy there was only ONE sister who opened her house for the kids to hang out at and have parties etc.
She kept trying to get someone else to pick up the ball but NO! No one wanted to help keep the kids with any normal activities….there was just this one sister.
Another cong I was in is BIG on parties and gatherings BUT very bad a charitable works for their widows, orphans, and just plain down on luck JW families.
So these same people who will smile at you and ask you to come to a party will at the same time let you starve to death and go homeless!! I know of some elderly couples who fled this cong as well as some single moms.
So you see Eppie you are right each cong is different so that is why you hear such conflicting stories.
Still at the same time EACH cong does not have a clue on how to be a good neighbor and truly help their Brothers and Sisters through trials and tribulations.
Drunk or not this was a good thought you posted…..really got me thinking!
Gotta Luvz yaz Sugar,

P.S. I try to use Father In Heaven much more Then Jehovah now….but yes…I still have that same reflex.

Need help!
by RR ini need some help on the watchtowers view of the internet.
if i am not mistaken, the society has stated that jw's should not have websites because the society has their own website or something to that effect.
anyone know where that can be found or anything related to the jw's not having sites?

Noticeably, there have been a number of individuals who have created Web sites ostensibly to preach the good news. Many of these sites are sponsored by indiscreet brothers. Other sites may be sponsored by apostates who wish to lure unsuspecting ones. (2 John 9-11) Commenting on whether there is a need for our brothers to create such Web sites, Our Kingdom Ministry, November 1997, page 3, stated: "There is no need for any individual to prepare Internet pages about Jehovah’s Witnesses, our activities, or our beliefs. Our official site [www.watchtower.org] presents accurate information for any who want it."
19
Study Aids via the Internet? Some have felt that they are rendering a service to the brothers by posting researched information in connection with various theocratic activities. For example, a person may do research based on a public-talk outline and then post this, thinking that such information will benefit those who need to prepare the same outline. Others will post all the scriptures for an upcoming Watchtower Study or provide source material for the Theocratic Ministry School or the Congregation Book Study. Some may offer suggestions for field ministry presentations. Are such really helpful?
20
The publications provided by Jehovah’s organization stimulate our minds with upbuilding thoughts and train us "to distinguish both right and wrong." (Heb. 5:14) Can we say that this is achieved if others do our research for us?
21
The Beroeans were spoken of as "more noble-minded than those in Thessalonica." Why? Because "they received the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so." (Acts 17:11) Although Paul and Silas preached to them, they could not make the truth their own without becoming personally involved.
22
Using another person’s research for a talk or for other meeting preparation really defeats the purpose of personal study. Is it not your desire to build up your own personal faith in God’s Word? Based on personal conviction, you can then make public expression of your faith—in your talks, in comments at the meetings, and in the field ministry. (Rom. 10:10) Using another person’s research does not fit the description given at Proverbs 2:4, 5 to personally ‘keep seeking and searching for the very knowledge of God as for hid treasures.’
23
For example, when looking up scriptures in your own copy of the Bible, you can briefly review the context of each scripture. You can ‘trace all things with accuracy,’ as did Luke when he wrote his Gospel. (Luke 1:3) The extra effort will also help you to be skillful in looking up scriptures in the ministry and when giving talks. Many have stated that they are impressed with Jehovah’s Witnesses because they know how to use their Bibles. The only way that this can apply to us is if we make it a practice personally to look up scriptures in our own Bibles.
