the top cardinal of britian has resigned, cardinal keith o'brien, the archbishop of edinburgh, has given notice amid accusations by three priests that he made 'inappropriate contact' with them.
he will not be able to vote in the upcoming selection of the new pope.
the current pope has accepted his resignation.. like cardinal mahoney of the los angeles archdiocese, cardinal o'brien will be allowed to 'retire' receiving a nice pension and home paid for by hard working catholics.
I'm just glad that finally the abused are getting a voice, in all religious organisations who attempt to quieten them and cover it up. It seems that social media is definitely making a difference, and making it possible for their voices to be heard. Shocking link there Blondie.

hey i have come to love some of the discussions on here and the information.
i am currently awake and have no plans to fade, in my case i am patient enough to in time become an elder to at least help the younger friends here in my area, in the sense of helping them wake up/if elder have their back..

i'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.
I was in the middle of a B.Ed when I got baptised and felt the pressure of "putting faith in the world" so I left with a Dip.HE. This was in my early thirties. I then spent years with a sick husband trying to manage a home and 4 kids on very little income. Fast forward 20 odd years, one divorce and one exit from the WTBS and here I am, having just gained an honours B.A. I am now on a Post Grad in Education. All very enjoyable to do, but full of deep regrets that I didn't complete this years ago and secure myself in a great career. Hey ho, I'll make the best of what's left. At least I'm free.

my youngest who i haven't seen for 6 months came to collect the rest of her stuff from the flat today.. she was cold and indifferent towards me until the dog went for her because she no longer knows her and then she blamed me for everything that has happened.. having trouble keeping it together now..

i'll start.
i'm low on friends, for various reasons.
scientists poke their calculators into everything, and the number of friends we can have is one of them.
At a recent celebration there were around 60 people on my invitation list. Having said that, in terms of real 'close' friends, I can count them on one hand. That feels right for me and I remember reading that it was as it should be. A family member has a theory that he only has a limited amount of time and energy and he chooses to spend it on people he loves, his reasoning is that if he spreads himself too thinly around too many people, everyone loses out, including himself. I think he might have a point.
I enjoy mixing and being with friends but I do love to be at home with hubby, cos he's my best friend.

i jus got dissfellowshiped at th last week..i feel like dying..i attended th meetings yesterday and ita ws jus horrible..came back home in tears....... people i used to cal my friends nw cant look me in the eye..so heartbroken confused and giving up on life !.
I remember feeling like you do now. It was the worst feeling in the world at the time. But it's true what many have said on here, it does get better. Once you realise that your God Jah hasn't 'left' you, like they insist, and that there is a wonderful life to be had outside that Kingdom Hall. I lost all trust in the WTBS when they did it to me despite my repentance, and could never have gone back again. I have become thankful for it and believe that Jah allowed it for my good.
You need to build up a support system around you, a career, and a life of freedom. You'll soon see that there are some really loving and kind people in the world with no conditions. Reach out and become friends with some of them. It sounds like you already have a loving partner to help you find your way. Be happy together and start living a normal life. Oh, and don't look back, they've done you a favour.

Sorry to here this Amelia. Kids can inflict so much pain on us. They're so good at judging but often forget to judge themselves by the same standards. Hang in there honey, thinking of you.

Hey CoCo, hope you're enjoying your house sitting. While I've enjoyed returning to Uni at my ripe old age, I'm finding myself getting very tired now in my Post Grad teaching studies! Days off are about catching up with chores around the house and resting (I hear you Tammy lol) and getting the energy back to carry on the next week. I wish too that we had the funds to retire and do some real travelling but we don't, so it's onwards and upwards. I do have a short holiday in Malta booked at Easter though, so we're looking forward to that.
