  What did you do?

  to all those who have in some way left the organization (be it disfellowshipping, disassociating, dis-whatever):.

  come now, i know the amount of people who "realized that wt doctrine was in serious error" and politely handed in their letter of resignation has to be very small.

  the level of bitterness and hostility towards the closest-to-what's-biblical organization has to develop some other way.. what did you do?

  The official take from the Watchtower Society would be that I left the witnesses so I could have homosexual sex. However, I could have done that when I was 18 rather than when I was 30 and had a much better time since my hormones were clearly raging more at 18 than at 30.

  I didn't leave until I had lost all confidence in Jehovah's Witnesses as people. I watched how witnesses lived their lives. I watched the hypocrisy. I watched and learned and left.

  I left mainly because of people like Still who proclaimed their own righteousness loudly but upon further examination were always found majorly wanting in their sincerity and integrity. If not for these people, including the members of my own family, I would have never left.

  she misses him so very much that she still cries sometimes for him when she has a bad day.. about 2 months ago, my husband was at her house working on his car.

  when he came home, he told me that jehovah's witnesses came knocking at her door.

  she invited them in the house.

  I think Moxy is onto something. If you have forever and the earth is filled, thus needing no more kids, I see no advantage to monogamous relationships. Clearly the Bible shows that there is no MARRIAGE for resurrected ones. It doesn't say there will be no sex for them.

  As long as there are humans there will be a certain percentage that need what the Watchtower provides. The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society will be with us a very very very long time.

  i was asked the question, how was eve deceived and not adam?

  persons that believe adam and eve were placed in the garden the very same 24 hour day are wrong.

  even the society after the 1975 failure, only then did they act upon the fact that eve was placed in the garden sometime after adam.

  It seems such bad luck that the very first two humans in the universe turned out bad.

  I have always wondered why Jehovah didn't simply create 1,000 worlds and only punish the ones that were disobedient. Why rely on just 2 entities of any kind to determine the fates of so many billions, trillions of creatures if you count animals that have to suffer being killed now since they are no longer vegetarian. Animals also suffer from droughts, floods, etc. Animals didn't sin and are not inheriters of sin, why do they have to suffer?

  It seems like a bad plan all around to me.

  unfortunately, i'm not quite sure what my questions are.

  my first post was in the "dating..." forum, if anyone's interested.. the biggest problem i have is my complete ignorance concerning jw's and their beliefs/ practices.

  the research i've done has provided only polar opposite views, either jw is the way or it's a cult and it's wrong.

  I think Crisis of Conscience is objective. It simply relates experiences of one person.

  If you want a set of basic facts, try asking us questions one at a time and we can probably inform you fairly quickly.

  it is called the mystery of christ and why we don't get it.

  it is written by an episcopal priest.. i am finding it an extremely good read.

  Actually, part of the reason I decided to read the book was that I am continually perplexed by the need for people to believe in Jesus.

  I for one think listening to all sides of a debate is not only fascinating but beneficial.
