Memorial Attendance: "What's Going On?"
by sweet pea inspoke to my dad today who attended the beckenham (london/kent) congregation's memorial - he said that for the first time the attendance was seriously down - 203 as opposed to last year's 250 and that penge (congregation that shares the hall) had a similar experience.
it's called the internet dad.. can we have a roll call of numbers from those that attended please?
(or if it's been covered already, a link?).

i'm impressed witht the map that you posted 5 years ago with the location of each member.. can you provide an updated sheet?.
with the locations, i will them pm each person for their email, and compile them in an excel spread sheet.. what i want to do is get the email of each person, then when i'm in that a certain part of the country, i will send an email to those in that area, as i love "our" conversations.

i am 5th generation and i use to have tons and tons of "friends" that are still in.
when i was little my dad was co substitute for years so we got to travel alot and meet even more jws.

And yet because of the way the WT indoctrinates their followers about not belong part of this 'old world' you feel you do not belong to that either.

time and time again i have been referred to this website when talking to jw's about this issue.

To be encouraged by governmental authorities to save for your future retirement & as an individual foolishly decide to ignore the advice is one thing.
To be DISCOURAGED by the 'God given authority of the Governing Body Of JW's' to save for your future retirement & as an individual suffer the weight of disapproval by people who consider themselves more spiritually mature should you decide to plan for your future is another.

The demographic time lag between what they told us would be our future & what is actually happening to us is starting to impact financially & emotionally.

Thankfully in 1976 I started paying a mortgage on my first home despite disapproval from a major part of the congregation because I was leaving home without being married & was not putting God's Kingdom first by pioneering. Oh yes, the Borg even tried to interfere with that by saying the only reason a young person would leave home would be to get married...............this was a talk given at a circuit assembly around that time.
Ignoring the Borg & buying my own home was one of the best things I've done, but as I said I IGNORED the WBTS.
A JW couple that's the same age as me (late 50's) have made no provision pension-wise because of the rubbish they were told by the WBTS & are starting to realise the predicament they are in.
You see to have sought any form of material security for your advanced years showed a lack of faith in what the WBTS was foretelling would be the future & was something others would be encouraged to view as a sign of being spiritually weak.

Does Anyone Like the New Songbook?
by metatron ini'll try not to be 'knee-jerk' critical about this subject but do any witnesses like the new songbook?
ok, they got rid of some awful lyrics about molesting bees - and downsized references to the ever redundant jesus - but the music itself sounds like forced piano practice.
trying to sing these slow, pedantic tunes is awkward and painful.. i haven't seen any witness e-mails about this 'wonderful provision from jehovah' and his faithful hacks, so i wonder if the rank and file aren't enthused either.

When the brown song book was released there was a letter read to all congregations after some had expressed a critical opinion of the new songs & the piano playing..............so carry on like this & you know what to expect in the near future.
