I think having a spouse and children in the clutches makes it so much more difficult. This should perhaps be a lesson to unmarried people to fade NOW.
My own fade was quick and successful, since I was single then. Moved to quite a few territories away and made it difficult for them to know where I was. I never announced that I was leaving my old congregation, never made myself accountable to a new one, never lied to anybody about anything, just stopped giving "elders" any authority over me. I dread to think how much more difficult it would have been had I been married to a Witness.

Thats one of my biggest beefs too. Something is either right, or its wrong. Its either true or its false.
Miseryloveselders, I can't say I subscribe to black & white thinking. For example the Red Cross/Red Crescent exists to assist people in a neutral and humanitarian way in situations of disaster and war. That is its "truth", and has a specific philosophy and code of conduct. Similarly Médecins Sans Frontières has a similar reason for existing but has its own, different, policies and procedures, also "truth" to that organization.
Is one right and the other wrong? Of course not. And neither would ever dare to promote itself as The Truth when it comes to humanitarian aid. There are millions of "truths" in this universe, and some appear to contradict each other, but they can all be "true" to someone somewhere.
So the Jehovah's Witness' The Truth™ is obscenely presumptious and should be a red flag to anyone involved with this society.
My main point in starting this thread though is to highlight how even after leaving many people still use the objectionable expression The Truth with regard to JW's. I like the points made by Mr. Flipper........
Unless a person educates themselves on how the WT society used catch phrases and loaded language to deceive it's members - ex-witnesses will continue using such terms and expressions because the mind control hasn't fully left them yet. For some it takes longer than others.
And by Wobble.....
I correct her, and she just laughs and says it is "shorthand" , so I reply, Cult is just as short, use that.
And by TD...
Why do some insist on treating "Truth" as a tangible object that you can "Have" or "Be in?"
Exactly right. "Being in the truth" and "Having the truth" are pure cult-speak.

Worst Witness Wedding Experience?
by spawn inwe went to oz for a wedding of a brother and sister from the sydney bethel.
it was the most bizzare wedding of all time, the cake was a multi coloured telitubby creation and the veggie food option was baby octopus and squid, the alcohol was free flowing and all bethelites in attendance took full advantage.
we were sat listening to the speaches and it was getting rowdier and rowdier and some of the language was rather unscriptual to say the least, as it was mixed jw and non jw we were surprised to find that all of this noise came from the bethelites.

The bride and groom were NOT in attendance for the meal. After the ceremony, they went to the hotel room for "dinner"
Made me laugh!!

Why do you call it "the truth"? Even after you leave??
It's wrong on so many levels. When I read or hear "the truth" it makes my skin itch and I feel like hitting someone.

WTWizard........
Usually, the Kingdumb Misery stays in my boasting session bag at all times until it goes out of date--just goes to show what a waste of time it is to prepare. And, I never touch mine with a highlighter or underline anything.
This makes you sound as though you are still a practising Jehovah's Witness. Am I correct? If so, how do reconcile what you name elements of your religion, in posts here, such as "the Kingdumb Misery", and what you do day-to-day in the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses?

Mention of U.N. as the "beast" is diminishing dramatically in WT
by Gayle in"united nations" and "beast".
"united nations".
this reference is done by paul of jwfacts.com .

This symbolic wild beast began as the League of Nations and was later revived as the United Nations.
Should not the unraveling of this mystery move us to be zealous in preaching the good news
This progression of logic makes no sense at all.

Frustrated with JW Bible study!
by ElizabethTravers ini am new 2 this forum.. i have been meeting up with 2 jw ladies on a weekly basis.
it has all been "polite".
today we covered a bit of the trinity.. i had read rhodes book on reasoning from the scriptures with jw's, but i found almost all my arguments that i used, in terms of every bible verse we went through (or i attempted to go through with them) went pear shape!

Having said that, there are certainly some individual people who care about doctrine, and the bible, and worship. Clearly for example on this thread there are some people who care.
But the balance of probability lies in the two sisters calling on you being "social" Jehovah's Witnesses. The vast majority are.
None of the very many former-Witnesses I know in my real life have any interest in discussing doctrine, online or offline. For them it's simply not about the technicalities of the beliefs.
