I was an elder in 95 and I began the process of leaving the day I read that watchtower. Your description of it as "a meaningless tautology" is spot on.
Interesting to hear news of the first cracks over this latest change. I am sure Blondie is right as far as many older witnesses are concerned but I think this will prompt many young witnesses to consider their future seriously.
i don't want to hijack the other thread.. you mention the eye being better than any camera so lets discuss this.
i used to give a talk where i would use the complexity of the eye as evidence of creation, but i have since changed my mind and below is the reasoning that helped me do so.. i would welcome you comments and reasoning against this.. if you had a choice between being totally blind and being able to see things out of focus, which would you pick.. i'm sure you would, like me prefer to have out of focus vision, than no vision at all.. would you rather have vision that was out of focus and devoid of color, or be totally blind.
i'm sure you prefer the colour option.. how about if you could only see vague shapes around you or blindness?

I couldn't start to count he number of hours I have spent over the years since leaving the borg making sense of evolution. It is an endless source of fascination and wonder.
Creationists think its enough to cut and paste a lengthy piece of internet drivel. Sad, but there was a time I was the same. Debator & co why not study evolution objectively, it is truly wonderful
