Because only the gb should be honored. Are you not thankful to the gb for that article? Pucker up to kiss the gb ass. A day for fathers or mothers might mean missing a meeting or skipping field circus.

Father's Day is tomorrow (in the US). Why is it wrong?
by leaving_quietly ini did an examination of the one single article ever to address father's day since it's tomorrow here in the us.
the article covers both mother's day and father's day.
hope it's informative.. examination of “mother and father worship unscriptural”, the only article ever to address father’s day in any publication printed by the watchtower bible and tract society.

I'm being shunned. I do accept checks, money orders, and paypal. Would you like to give me a one time or monthly stipend?

How long can this cult remain with only kids becoming members?
by Crazyguy init's become clear that very few from outside the religion are joining anymore.
if only the kids of the people that are already in are the one replacing the members as they die off and 50% let's say of the kids leave then how long can they realistically last before the downturn becomes obvious?.

I've heard from inside family complain8ng that they find interested ones and set up a bible study then never hear from them again. I think they probably look up jws online and find places like this site and run for the hills.

I disagree on any religious ban being bad. Religious practices that coerce, force, or infringe on ones right as long as not hurting others to do as they please and be judged by god alone, not men of the religion, then they deserve to be banned. I applaud russia for standing up to human rights on this.

We can fuse together, program them to fix our bodies with nano technology thus insuring our eternal existence.
The GB would LOVE that. Then the BORG would really be the BORG. Or watch the current season of "The 100".

Awesome. I've been predicting for awhile with cloud technology, increased memory with decreased size, increased processing speeds, and many other breakthroughs, that all the requirements for AI whether just on a computer or in robotic form are now ready for this to be reality. It can also end up being extremely dangerous, especially if the AI becomes self aware. So many sci fi movie scenarios could happen. If the AI or when the AI becomes smarter than it's creators, has unlimited resources, and then can hack into systems if it either creates it's own agenda or is programmed for a certain one. -
Use hashtags to reach others!
by EndofMysteries ina friend of mine who knows of my history mentioned they just found out one of their fb friends was a jw from hashtag pictures they were posting.
not sure if it was #jw, #jw.org, etc, but those get picked up by all sorts of searches.
if the general jw's are doing it, it's a good way to get some real valuable information intercepted by them when they search for the latest fb or twitter postings of the day.

There was nothing before the big-bang. Not nothing as in "the vacuum of space" but really nothing, not even the space for the vacuum to be empty in.
Without gravity, there is no time, so no "before" because time also started when matter existedWow Simon!! I think you just answered the age old question of how could God have ALWAYS existed. Based on your answer, there was no time until he created the first matter, hence he was always there since time didn't exist prior. haha

Didn't look at the videos, but besides absolute nothing then everything came into existence, 2 other ideas I've heard are.
1. The universe is always contracting and expanding, right now expanding but soon more and more mass, planets, galaxies, etc, will join. Each time creating a stronger gravity pull, and eventually everything compresses into one lump and explodes making another big bang with a never ending cycle.
2. Our universe is the result of a 4th dimensional star exploding and turning into a black hole. (If that's the case then just imagine one star in our entire universe spawning another universe. Means at least one other universe outside of ours.

Evolution: The Deal Breaker
by Hadriel infirst off i do believe there are some evidences of evolution or i should probably say adaptation.
i do believe this exists in various forms.. however the deal breaker for me with evolution is the chick or egg problem.
there are tons of theories that get passed around as proof of evolution however these are usually examples much further down the evolutionary chain.. what i mean is let's start at the beginning!

Let's put forth the (very simplistic) hypothesis that it requires a lightning bolt to a primordial lake to start off the first. In our labs we do not have the space for a lake nor is anyone in the world capable of generating full-force lightning (we don't even fully understand the phenomenon). That is the difficulty right now in evolutionary theory - we have all the pieces and the puzzle is almost complete, but it's missing some things in the middle, namely, the absolute certainty of the genesis of life (we have an idea of where to look) as well as (on the other end) how to shape our future evolution (although we've been doing that inadvertently for the last 10,000 years or so).
Scientists can easily create an airtight room, extract all the oxygen from it, have only chemicals and gases thought to have been around during that time, and electricity can be surged into the pool in that room.
