On death though, sometimes I wonder if it could almost be like a dream. When you are dreaming you are unaware that you are dreaming, you can be in a entire different world and oblivious that minutes ago you were in this world. Imagine if this life is just like a dream, you wake up and remember all the lives/experiences you had. In a sense it makes life sort of like virtual reality.

john_mann - in that theory, what happens when somebody is supposed to die of old age? is there a universe where everybody slips and they kept aging to thousands of years old looking like raisins?

I can't remember where, but I heard a theory that we do not actually 'remember' our past, our memories are actually our consciousness time traveling to that moment.

Is belief in heaven after death relatively new to Christianity?
by EndofMysteries ini was surprised awhile ago when researching about cremation how until maybe 1940's or 1950's even catholics forbid cremation.
the reason for no cremation was because they believed in a physical resurrection and cremation was a rejection of physical resurrection.
it seems nowadays no christians believe in a earthly resurrection, only that they all go to heaven.

I wonder when this shift happened. If they all believed they were just going to heaven in 100 years ago, why would cremation be forbidden?

Welcome back - the quickest eye openers to deception would be asking and seeing what they say about the following 3 questions and then seeing the 'history' of what has been published proving that they are lying.
1. Do Jehovah's Witnesses follow any man or leader? (they will say no, only Jesus, yet once in and in the watchtower study articles it's non stop about following and obeying the governing body (7 or 8 men on average) who run the organization and following them is vital to salvation.
2. Do Jehovah's Witnesses shun former members? On their own website under FAQ's you'll see them 'spin doctor' it as if they don't. Yet tons of watchtowers and instructions on not evening emailing or making any excuses to talk to family members who have left.
3. Have the governing body or any leader (rulers of the JW's) ever professed to be inspired? They will say all their false prophecies and false teachings were because they are imperfect and never profess to be inspired. yet you can find hundreds of quotes where they say their teachings should be treated as if from GOd's mouth himself, that they are spirited directed and nobody can understand the bible except through them, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

SRD - looking at Genesis one in the hebrew, if I am incorrect please answer this question...... It says how light was created and constant seperation of light, then it says how the sun and moon were created, and it was to show WHEN the light was ruling. Why would the sun need to be made to show when the light was ruling?
" Wrong; nothing in the HEBREW text about spiritual creatures" - nonstop in Gensis 1 it's speaking of 'him' and 'her'. Seeds of him, etc. The him and her then play when you get into the punishment for the tree of knowledge. Emnity between his seed and her seed. Whoever the 'his' is and the 'her' is in those scriptures is part of what's talked about in Genesis 1 when reading it in hebrew.

Jngburkett - I was raised as a JW and in it for almost 30 years. The way the religion works, there is love bombing and some deception on policies. They don't want to scare or discourage any who they get who are interested so new ones aren't forbidden or forced to do much, it's a slow process.
One example that you can yourself find in order to see deception is this.... on their official website under FAQ's on shunning you find this page....
http://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/shunning/
Now read that, and ask yourself, if your entire family, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc all become JW's and later on you decide it's not right and God leads you on a different path, will your entire family cut you off and shun you??
By reading their above FAQ it may appear that only JW's will shun you and not matter what family is family.
I'll let some others post the articles if you want to see them but in practice, in the watchtowers, they actually forbid talking to those who leave who don't live in the same house. Even emailing is forbidden.
In the question it says "FORMER MEMBERS", but then they play with words and they are describing, 'inactive' ones. To be a former member one would be disfellowshipped or disassociate themself and THEY ARE SHUNNED. Also you notice how the play with words makes it appear family is family, but in that example it's a family living in the same roof. They leave out that if not in the same roof, then mother/daughter father/son would shun whichever leaves or is disfellowshipped.
Also another thing you'll notice, in anywhere have they taught you in the scriptures and in your study about human's you must follow? Have you heard about "the faithful and discreet slave" yet? They make it appear they only serve Jesus/God, and you can get holy spirit, reading the bible, etc.
The teaching that is snuck in slowly is that you can't possibly understand the bible nor get holy spirit and your salvation depends on BLIND FAITH and BLIND OBEDIENCE of about 8 men in the headquaters they call the governing body.
You may want to look into these things.

Nice notes on Babylon talk! I took the liberty of making a few adjustments as it's a clear case of the pot calling the kettle black!
1:40 How Babylon the Great Has "Shut Up The Kingdom"
(Matthew 23:2, 4-10, 13, 23, 24,34)
Hypocrite: Belive certain beliefs but lives are not in harmony with those beliefs.
Jesus used that word 6 di ff erent times in describing the governing body and elders. Matthew 23:2
The governing body of this time, very versed in the law there teaching became
so unscriptural they became a burden to the people.
Luke 11:52 - took away the key to knowledge to the common people. (Nobody can understand the bible except the Governing Body and nobody can get holy spirit and direction except them)
Pharisees no longer exist but the governing body does.
Rev 18:2, 23- by theie words and demonic influences false teaching is around
the world.
Matthew 23:2. Religious leaders of Jesus time compared to today.
Have Jehovah's name shown but nobody can approach him for direction and understanding only the governing body. Remove holy spirit from being accessible to the people.
Heavy loads on people. Nonstop man commandments like no recreation, no fun weddings, nonstop field service, contributions, studying manmade publications that are not refreshing. Many people fed up with
Rev 23:5-10- Jesus day they like prominent places. Today they wear titles. Have you use titles whenapproaching these people
individuals...elder, circuit overseer, governing body member, etc.
people do a lot of things in gods name. Matthew 23:23;24 false religion tolerates
a lot of things the bible condemns. Forbidding people to get holy spirit and direction through prayer alone, judging others, shunning those who leave the manmade teachings, forbidding to let holy spirit guide individuals, forcing to accept false beliefs to be unified, etc.
2 Tim 4:3: People want their ears tickled.
Matt 23:34- people who worship the true God are opposed and persecuted, usually by disfellowshipping and shunning when they stand up for what is right.
VIDEO PRESENTATION:
Brother who treated elders for phedophial and alcohol abuse. Became
disillusioned over the lies involving the Watchtower religion Spent 50 years searching
for the truth. Now he said he found it.
Rev 18:4-Get out of Watchtower. Are we not grateful to be out of the watchtower?
We must help others to do the same.

Genesis one is simutaneously describing the creation and order of heavenly bodies, spirit creatures, and good and evil (which is why the tree of knowledge of good and evil was a big deal later on). But you will never uncover how it teaches all of those things by reading in an already translated english bible. You must go to the hebrew source to see what was changed and assumed and how it hides the truth of what genesis teaches.

I wonder how much has changed from Rutherford to today's GB. Both traveled the worlds exotic sites. I wonder what the GB do when traveling to these locations. Do they just give one talk and tour the city the rest of the stay? Do they stay in nice hotels and eat at nice restaurants or spend the entire time in field service each day, sleeping on the couch of a local member, and eating budget pioneer provided meals consisting of all you can eat ramon noodles?
