What happened to your marriage after you stopped believing?
by JerkhovahsWitless ini know some posters here went through or are going through some painful things right now because of no longer believing when they have a husband / wife that still does.
others were able to free the minds of their spouse.
i'm assuming the latter is a lot more rare.. anyone that wishes to share their story, please do.. i'm looking to pass the info on to someone who doesn't totally believe, but may marry a jw.

There are ups and downs, of course. It helps that our relationship is and has been very strong. She is my best friend and confidante. When I first came out about my doubts, the shock took a while to wear off for her. Now she's fine with my beliefs, and is questioning her own.
The fact that family members and "friends" have acted in a very unchristian way towards me has helped to draw us closer as well. She is very protective and has had to tell her friends to stop gossiping about her husband. So they have pretty much given up on her as well.
It is difficult, but there are plenty of baby steps forward.

Commentary on the Letter of James
by lepermessiah inzoiks inspired this thread when he mentioned this book elsewhere.. i have read other threads on this forum about it, but i always enjoy the fresh insight on here.. commentary on the letter of james was always my favorite book from wtbs, partly because i love the book of james, but also because it was one of the books that dealt with more practical christian living than constant wt doctrine.. i mentioned to a number of people that i loved that book, and got a few comments of "well, you know that book was written by an apostate.".
it didnt take me long to do a little math - that book came out i believe in 1979/1980, right around the time of the great purge.
how could someone write such an excellent book and then be branded an apostate just a few months later???.

Argh! I just went looking for my copy and I can't find it! I hope it didn't fall victim to one of my wife's anti-packrat purges...

Have you Been Shunned Even Though Just Considered " Inactive " ?

i haven't now for 6 years + .

Yes I am actively being shunned by all but one of my "friends" and passively shunned by my family members that are still in. In fact there are some who have taken it upon themselves to inform friends in other areas of my inactive state. Calling them up specifically for that purpose. How very kind of them! True Christians, all.

Sentience. Okay, I used the word sentience but that is not actually the correct word
HG- I may be way off here, but I think the term that you may be looking for is "capable of abstract thought". Humans are unique in this ability.

Your worst field service experience.
by littlebird inmy worst field service experience was this.. i didn't have a car at the time and so a pioneer sister was picking me up of service every couple of days.
she was my partner and i got a door where the woman was clearly not interested.
as i am stepping away the pioneer sister starts in with all the objection stoppers.

My worst experiences were invariably with householders who actually knew their bible.

Tattoos/Piercings?
by Think About It ini feel like woody allen in the 1973 movie "the sleeper".
i leave in 1995, wake up 15 yrs later to see what has been going on in the jw religion and find out it is completely different from what i left.
i started a thread about beards, because i wanted to know how the modern day beard and goatee fad went over in the kh's.. now i'm curious about the tattoo, piercings and short or shaved hair look.

My wife got a tattoo at 18 after the elders told her they wouldn't do anything about it...
Edit: I really like it!
