hah - another example of ridiculous specious reasoning. the deadly trap was set way before sarah met tom, dick and harry. i assume it was dick she fell into the sack with, but nonetheless....the trap was set when daniel decided he wanted to be a big shot in the org. if he had never done that, if he hadn't had those studies (a pet peeve of mine...how is it that people become 'studies'...they lose their being and become a thing) - but, had daniel never gone out in service and met those dudes, and never studied with them, sarah most likely would never have known them, so she wouldn't have had her fling.

but then, maybe she wasn't all that in love with daniel. maybe it was one of those marriages that kids too young rush into with someone they barely know, just to have legitimate sex - and later realize they were stuck with the entirely wrong person.

yes, this month is the presidential election in my country and im going to exercise my right of voting .......... what im not sure about is if i let mom know, she is still a jw and im basically fading so, i dont want to mess it up, but at the same time i feel that i shoul be free for once and all.

i dont live with her anymore but that would break her heart, and she has high blood pressure problems so, why to bother?

i dont know :s.

does anyone here have any suggestions on handling financial abuse of a senior by the watchtower bible and tract society?

mom gave a lot of money to the watchtower bible and tract society over her lifetime- (6 figures).

after she ran low on funds she made a 5 figure "conditional loan" to wtb&ts.

this is so outrageous - makes them look like colossal crooks! be sure to document each and every detail and take it to the limit. it's a pain, time-consuming and frustrating, but this is the sort of thing that the accounting profession is required to follow protocol. Their financial dealings should be transparent and all donations and loans fall under strict parameters. they need to abide by proper procedures - honesty and ethics.

isn't it amazing that a group who so adamantly declare their self-worth in terms of honorable conduct are in reality the exact opposite. reminds me of the scripture that says something to the effect that let a strangers lips praise you, not you praise yourself.

i do think that enlisting legal assistance is a very good idea.

So finally jws work our road

it has been years since i have seen any jws in this road but this morning when i returned home after buying a birthday gift i spotted two women walking slowly doing the door to door work.. i lamented the fact that they did not call here, my son informed me they had visited the neighbours but had missed us out.

hubby was in the kitchen and had missed them otherwise he would have gone outside and confronted them.

just as i was feeling we had missed an opportunity my neighbour called me to let me know the witnesses were about.

good point about the impression they make...walking so slowly and deadbeat. hardly an advertisement for happiness, security and well-being.

oh boy....i remember a thread about the locked doors at bethel...and another about how a tour group miraculously survived....my gut feeling is that they - meaning the big shots - were pretty much unaware of what was going on, and once they did hear about it, tried to manipulate stories to fit the persecution Armageddon theme. whatever....it was a terrible thing, and scary and sad for the victims. people shouldn't endeavor to gain personal or group glory out of such a disaster.

6/15 WT - WT Society can Run it's Business - but JW's Can't Have their Own

in the typical do as we say , not as we do type mentality - the wt society puts forth in this current wt study article ( jw's only wt ) - that it's not " advisable " or " reasonable " for jehovah's witnesses to seek entering their own business ventures , or further themselves by getting a college education, or even have a career - due to the imminent coming of the alleged " end of the system " or alleged " paradise " .

the guilt and control used here is ridiculous.

Appalling. Yet there is a subculture among them who love this stuff because it frees them from personal responsibility. They shoot themselves in the foot though - because who is going to pay for all the CO's and DO's and BO's and ZO's if all the masses go into minimum wage work and can't take care of themselves, much less their organization!?! And then, we have serious breaches of ethical behaviors where people are using the system and not working and supporting themselves when they are fully capable of doing so. No matter how you look at it, it is warped thinking.

An Update

i've been away from the board for a while but thought i'd put my head in the doorway to say hello to all and give an update on what's going on with me.. i have been unemployed for nearly three years and finally had got to the end of my tether.

so, at the end of march, i left colorado, my home for the last thirty-one years, and returned to my family in alabama to regroup and recharge my batteries.

leaving colorado and the rockies was heartbreaking but i am grateful that i had a home to return to and didn't wind up on the streets.

i came home the other day and found an invitation to the upcoming district convention in my door.

i don't believe these are left in the doors of the general public, so a well-meaning witness must have been thinking of me, even though i have not been to the kh in about 7 years.. the leading question on the front immediately got my attention, and made my jaw drop a bit.. i thought i would ask the forum, .
