doesn't the bible teach that jesus died for us, so that we could attain salvation? doesn't it say that it is through him that we have the hope and gift of eternal life? i keep thinking and seeing that the religion is very based in the ancient israel mindset - the all powerful god whose wrath must be avoided at all costs. i do believe there is that all-powerful god, and he is the source of all life and energy, but also that jesus death wiped out the old law code and was replaced with the new law of love. and by "coming back to jehovah" what they are really saying is come back to the kingdom hall. how can they assume that someone has lost love or integrity to their creator and life-giver just because they opt out of a stifling guilt-ridden religion the promotes stupidity and arrogance?

Does WT do this on purpose or are they just out of ideas? 2012 Special Talk
by OnTheWayOut inthe 2012 special talk is "is it later than you think?".
the outline can be found at this thread: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/221623/1/anyone-have-the-outline-for-the-2012-special-talk.
at that above link, you can also see the october 8, 1968 awake cover that uses that exact same title.

Remember the year when it was all about how we're all going to starve, fig tree fail to blossom, no fruit be on the vine...and there was that special talk "Happy though Hungry"? Well, my elder father had that talk and it popped up a few times later on. As Solomon wisely noted "there is nothing new under the sun". Anyway, some of those PT outlines were so overused it got to the point where I'd be leafing to the next scripture before the speaker even mentioned it. So much for intellectual stimulation.
So...no surprise that the October 8 Awake from 1968 has resurfaced. Plus, even if things have to get by the septarchy, given their age, a certain level of dementia and memory loss is quite likely. But, surely the factoids erroneously presented will be updated.....

Ridiculous article I found about anointed going to heaven/partaking of emblems
by lilbluekitty ini'm copy/pasting this from the cd rom (i only have the 2008 one and older ones), watchtower 2/15/03.
i was browsing to refresh my memory what jws believe about who can partake of the memorial because the church i go to now has the lord's supper every sunday as part of their worship.
a person who truly has this calling does not need to ask others if he has such a hope.

Thank you watchtower...
by punkofnice in..having been raised in your nutty cult i now have confusion over my world view!.
as i'm a brit we don't go in for therapy.
i tend to see it as some bloke trying to ask about freudian sex associations from my childhood.

punk - tis true...it takes time to straighten out the wires. i am totally turned off by anything even remotely related to religion these days.. i find i have to purposely concentrate on being positive and releasing anxiety. the religion left me with a serious panic disorder, depression...on meds for life now. the deeply instilled fears were the worst...going to end up in a concentration camp, beaten to a pulp, starved almost to death...what loving images to inculcate in a child's mind. amazing...
i love freedom.

They, she, he, whoever....is falling out of the truth.........
or they have fallen out of the truth......
our quest for eternal life.....
back halls (honestly when i was a kid i thought that's what the back call was because you went to the house and stood and gabbed in the back hall....)
he may be in the truth but the truth isn't in him....
(notice so many very judgemental types of little sayings...)
secular work....(that thing to be avoided at all costs)
car captain.......house over house.....home but hiding.....oh the list is endless.

Lucinda__first love.....prison and Jehovah's Witnesses
by Terry inin 1967 i couldn't play piano or any other musical instrument.
but, i could chord with my left hand and peck out melody in my right hand!.
in fact, i was quite compelled to compose music the way teenagers are often overwrought with hormone driven compulsions to express themselves!

That is a bittersweet story, Terry...I am sorry you had to do the jail time, and for what. But on the flip side, you came out alive and a lot of those guys who ended up in Nam came out tragically either hooked on booze or drugs, or with PTSD....both of which a certain religion can cause in you too.... But thanks for sharing. I always felt so bad for the poor young guys who at the peak of strength and virility landed in the slammer, but having married a navy man, I have a newfound appreciation for the military and those who serve the country. They are a good bunch and they sacrifice for the immediate not for an elusive future nirvana.

NO!!! Never really wanted to be. I think every citizen has a right to have a say. I am a very happy liberal! The first time I went to vote, I felt like a weight was lifted from me and I was a real member of society at long last. I know its all a game....and the skull and bones are doing their thing, but I can have my opinion!
