My Letter to Brooklyn about the Parousia that got me disfellowshipped

this is the letter i wrote back in '96 about the parousia.

following the '95 watchtower that disconnected the "generation" from 1914 i began to look carefully at end-time prophecy and soon discovered what i knew were basic errors in what i had been taught.. i was a loyal jw at the time and was still serving as an elder.

i used only watchtower publications in my research.

cofty, wow I'm so impressed.

I remember, when a WT-article around 1995 came out with a verse to verse explanation of Matth 24, Luke 21 and mark 13, I really, as a full believer, tried to study and to understand, since I alwas liked the more "deep things", but I couldnt get the whole idea.

Now i know why, when you try to fit the 1914 teaching in it, it cannot make sense, therefore the society always needed to adjust the understanding (generation, sheep-goat, signs in heaven, fds). Its like adding epi-cycles ;-)

In our family worship night, which i use to slowly get my wife to learn TTATT, we go through this information again. Your reasoning, cofty, is something I will use. Suddenly everything is soo clear....thanks again for posting it.

an elderly brother came up to me the other day and said: "you are a true christian"!

i asked him what he meant by that and he said because i "really care about the older ones in the congregation".

he went on to say that the elders and pioneers are so busy, they have to "get their time in the field service", no time left to check on the the older ones.

i have served 20 years as an elder, 5 years as an ms. was on the district committee in 2010, held various positions on the district , circuit, and rbc level.

probably been on more than 100 judicial committees and even an appeals committee.

was the coordinator in our congregation and deleted because adult child was df ( i kicked him out at the time of his wrongdoing, but that wasn't enough for thr brothers).

If you want to sum up the "good" about witnesses, I think, you can manifest it in this person. He was a humble, nice man, gone through hell, but remained positive towards his end. A truly great guy, sure, he was misleaded as many, but he truly believed and acted courageously. The Borg actually did not give much credit to him. They are more interested in publishing their litera-trash...

Another Lie/Revisionist History in todays WT study!!

i caught yet another revisionist history deception in todays wt lesson.. .

here is a quote from paragraph 4 of the 2/15/13 study edition.

"decades before 1914, jehovah's worshippers declared to the nations that the end of "the appointed times of the nations" would come in that year and that the world would enter into an unequaled period of trouble.".

Yesterday, I was even wondering, why they point out what the bible students did before 1914, since they don`t teach anymore, that before there was no FDS anyway. So no channel of God, how then did Russel come up with the 1914 prediction ?

By bible reading alone ? ridicolous....

just shows even more, how this new teaching of the FDS does not fit in at all in their own theology.

Is the Watchtower shy about repeating their new "generation" teaching?

as i recall in the 1980s talks and watchtower literature, magazines and books were always talking about the "generation" teaching and how it proved armageddon was going to come any day now.. but am i correct in thinking they have only actually mentioned the new "overlapping generations" teaching once or twice in the literature?

why are they so shy about talking about their great new interpretation?

it's almost enough to make you suspect they are a embarrassed about it.. mention it once or twice, don't dwell on it, hope everyone just accepts it, and don't bring it up again.

interesting idea, do you think with changing of the generation teaching, and as example of overlapping they used good old Freddie, who was also by the new definition a FDS member, they prepared the way for the new FDS doctrine ?

So jesus, speaking about the generation and the FDS, he meant the same bunch of guys preparing spiritual food at headquarters ?

Oubliette, thanks for your thread, i was yesterday thinking about starting one about the same problem,

it is a biggie, they did not know about their identity, they did also not know what exactly jesus appointed them for (app over belongings now in future !), so how can they say, they know what jesus / jehovah told them to write, say, produce in the last 93 years ?

It actually would be easy to dismiss all this as mere human fantasy, then again, its like the proverbial elephant, only us apostates see it....

new light on FDS and 1914

the society claims now, that before 1914/1919 there was no fds, this means also, russel was not part of it, he was not the channel from god.. then the calculation for 1914, which russel made popular and promoted, was done in a time, when god revealed actually nothing, does this prepare the way to finally dump 1914 chronology ?

approaching the 100 year anniversary for christs supposed rulership, it becomes anyway more and more ridicolous.. i know, some argue 1914 is essential for their being chosen 1919, but now they say, they are somehow not appointed over the belongings yet, so also this aspect looses significance.

and the inspection of the temple can begin anytime anyway, it was convinient to link it to 1914 but i think its not really necessary.

yes, a fade seems reasonable, more emphasis on jesus predictions of last days, less on chronology.

They moved this shaky calculation in the bible teach book towards the appendix, and mostly it was not really discussed with future converts, pubs mostlky shyed away anyway, and most of them cant explain it without help.

Only thing, last years came two articles defending 607, which again contradicts the idea of getting rid of 1914, well, time will show...
