  Piltdown was almost as great a hoax as the bible.

  Methods of dating and intensity of scrutiny have moved on considerably since this debacle, it highly unlikely that something like this could be repeated.

  Bethel Meeting at Regional Convention

  i decided to go to the bethel recruiting meeting yesterday to test out my theory that the organization is in decline.

  i assumed that if there is a general feeling of apathy by many in the org, then certainly it would be shown up by the lack of enthusiasm or zeal by many to sign up for bethel service.

  well let me say that based on what i observed, this organization is not going anywhere.

  book presented a large amount of new light or clarified understanding of the events of the great tribulation.. here i am presenting it in chronological order -- this is the governing body's updated chronological order of events for the time right before the great tribulation through armageddon:.

  the final sealing of the anointed occurs just prior to the outbreak of the tribulation.

  Summer Convention at Twickenham now gone, UK

  i believe this is the first year that the uk wont have a summer dc at this historical old rugby stadium (which is now one of the finest arenas in the uk) the costs to rent it must be astronomical these days, and it appears they are having multiple dates at the excel arena in london plus milton keynes is being used , many memories for me from a baby onwards making the yearly trip there, the dusty old stadium, the long walks to the car parks, working on the field security, getting burnt to a crisp or being poured on, binoculars !

  food tickets, meeting at the lion gates checking the talent, and on the final day drinking the local pub dry the barny arms, end of an era!

  if jesus was enthroned in 1914, and if he inspected all of the earth's religions in 1919, choosing the wtbts as his, then wasn't he choosing a religion that was manmade?

  if he didn't choose it until 1919, then what was the watchtower organization in 1918 or, for that matter, in 1914?

  and what happened to the church jesus organized when he said anciently, "i will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it"?.

  you do, however, deserve an explanation.. my father, bless him and now dead, was a survivor of belsen, the german concentration camp.

  Dolt - I too have enjoyed your posts on this forum. You and I see pretty much eye to eye when it comes to religion although my experience has primarily been JW.

  Saying that, I have been to my local village church on a few occasions (son was in Scouts daughter in Guides). Last time I went I wore a Flying Spaghetti Monster Tee shirt! I think some people feel I was being disrespectful - I don't think respect is deserved.

  Are atheists more likely to be morally good than Christians?

  i have no problem saying atheists and christians are equal.. but some people seem to have the belief that atheists are more likely to be morally good, or more likely to change the world for good, than christians and theists.. but what evidence do you have to support this claim?.

  if atheism is what causes people to do great positive things for the world, then why weren't martin luther king, jr., william wilberforce, isaac newton, francis collins, barack obama, mother theresa, abraham lincoln, or john f. kennedy atheists?.

  I have thought about this long and hard. I have come to the conclusion that all those I know who worship the Flying Spaghetti Monster (may we all be touched by his noodliness) seem to be extremely well rounded and moral human beings. The values they obtain from His gospel have molded them into decent moral human beings, I genuinely feel that without a belief in Him these people would be out committing all sorts of atrocities.

  Alternatively it could just be that animals that live in herds are more successful if they cooperate rather than antagonise the group and will often reap rewards for positive behaviour.

  Your question is built on a straw man argument.

  BTW Mother Theresa was an evil self serving bitch.

  a few weeks ago, these two jovies turned up on my doorstep.

  being in a good mood that particular day, i told them that if they could prove that god existed, i'd become a jovie - and i meant every word.. they gave me two documents which they asked me read and told me that they'd be back in a week.
