Oh ye of little faith!
You forget the power of magic errrrr I mean holy spirit.
chris tann,.
in your earlier post you seemed to be under the impression that genesis and science were somehow compatible .
however, the truth is the two are not reconcilable at all.

i've been a lurker for quite some time and enjoy the forum.
i've reached a point in life where i don't argue ideologies anymore so i don't have much to say.
i've been out for decades and believe i've been mostly de-cultabilized (if that's even a word).. my family is still in and i haven't had contact with them in years.
Welcome TheMark
before anyone gives me the "bears/wood" similarities, this is a post based on insidethekh's reply on the mormon v jw thread.
(http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/287545/1/who-is-copying-who-jws-or-mormons) i like to see wt friendly posts on here as some of the wt bashing displays the same logical fallacies as levelled against the wts and it's followers so it's good to consider reasoned debate.. on the one hand i think itkh makes a fair point if you compare the worldwide success of mormons v jws but there is an overall context to the preaching work that is completely ignored by those fully "in" and has been a major factor in my move from being an active witness to one on the cusp of getting out.
from a statistical point of view there are great headline numbers presented by the wts but if you put them in the context of the number of witnesses, conversation ratios, ratio of new witnesses to birth rates, numbers that must be leaving, growth differentials across the globe, penetration in muslim nations and so on then these numbers become meaningless.
I don't see any door to door activity in my area these days. All I see are brothers / sisters looking half comatosed in the vicinity of a cult cart.
i must be mad for starting this thread, but here goes: i quite like vic reeves and bob mortimer.
before you all jump on me, i realise that their humour is often childish and very hit-or-miss, to say the least.. however, when i'm in the right mood, some of their sketches are simply hilarious.. i was also wondering how british humour is received in other countries, particularly the us.. .

I remember the first time I saw them on Ben Elton's Friday night live in the mid 80's, I thought they were infantile and banal especially compared to Jo Brand and Harry Enfield who aslo started on that show. They grew on me somewhat as their careers progressed, and TBH I quite liked shooting stars.
Edit - to answer your question, I don't think some of their humour would translate too well in the US.
I was on stage with him a couple of years back, unfortunately the piece never aired .
Sadly, he committed suicide.

hi everyone.. i think this is a big question.
but how would you answer it in the simpliest of terms?.
in simple terms my " goals " are :-.
To Eat, Drink and be Merry
have you investigated gnostic christianity?.
the gnostic wing of christianity, if it can even be called that today, has quite a few differences to christianity and catholicism.
if the old gnostic christians were here, they would hardly recognize what has happened to the original orthodox catholic church or its various offshoots in protestantism and islam.
The Gnostic Christian Jesus, and the Gnostic Christians of that flavor, see a spark of God in all people including women and gays.
Such generosity - to bestow such a favour upon your fellow human beings.
