I think, if I am reading events correctly, that dear Eric simply could no longer carry the emotional load put upon him by the Shunning etc implemented by the JW's.
Another unnecessary casualty of an evil cult.

I miss the old coot. He wasn't too far from where I live and I always thought we could meet each other sometime.
