  Question for current and former elders: did you feel qualified to give counsel for depression?

  do you feel the counseling demands placed on elders are fair and scriptural?.

  i live in an economically depressed industial city.

  my dad is an elder in a lower income black congregation.

  My time as an elder taught me absolutely nothing.

  i saw on another forum that the trademark application for the 'jw.org' logo had been denied by the trademark office.

  it is too similar to the logo of another company.

  there is an appeals process that presumably gives the watchtower a chance to get the decision reversed.

  Like hell it does. How is shunning family members "good morals"?How is hoping billions die so you can inherit the Earth ""good morals"? How is wanting innocent children to die "good morals"? How is protecting paedophiles "good morals"? How is encouraging people to refuse life saving treatment "good morals"?

  i know it's a completely absurd thing to say, but something happened to me today that triggered the old cult reaction.

  my mind instantly lapsed back into that of a jw and for a split second i thought that because i wasn't doing jehovah things that jehovah's blessing had been removed from me and this is why my life seems to be running into so many dead-ends.

  as a jw i attributed anything good happening to me to being the result of my being a good jw and dutifully doing everything the borg teaches.
