I grew up in the era of Kent State where the Hippies put flowers in the rifle barrels of the National Guard.
4 dead in Ohio.....
it's likely that the grand jury verdict on the michael brown incident will be released in the coming days or weeks.. i've no doubt many people are going to feel strongly about things whatever the verdict is.. whatever the outcome though, here's what's not going to happen:.
we're not going to put up with inflamatory language and comments designed to rile others up.
be respectful.. we will not allow accusations of racism simply because some have a view of the verdict that contradicts others.. there will not be invented evidence or claims being repeated - if it's been falsely reported or debunked then it's off limits.. it's not going to be an opportunity for people to air past gripes over past discussions.. if you feel that you cannot discuss the subject in a rational way then it may be better to simply avoid any topics on the matter.. please try to be objective and respectful if you do decide to comment and not keen to take offense.

When you call for backup you wait for backup. This tragedy could have been avoided with a little plain talk.
A man suffering from a delusional episode was riddled with gunshots from Officers in Los Angeles recently.
We need to find a better way. We look like a ridiculous militarized police force in the eyes of the more progressive countries who don't have these stats.. They found a better way.
they say that seinfeld was a tv program about nothing.
in the end, it was all silliness.. this religion is inconsequential in the big scheme of things.
it's stupid.. .
Unlike the Mormons, who want to set up the Kingdom of God in America with Salt Lake or DC as the capital, our former religion is pretty pathetic on the world scene.
i'm sure most people heard about this story that broke yesterday.. http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/19/world/meast/jerusalem-violence/index.html?hpt=hp_t2.
of couse the governing body would never encourage the brothers to go to unsafe areas like detroit or israel.
sadly the brothers would believe it if the governing body told them drinking cyanide was safe.. .
Try spreading the 'Gospel' in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood someplace, see how it goes over.....
chris tann,.
in your earlier post you seemed to be under the impression that genesis and science were somehow compatible .
however, the truth is the two are not reconcilable at all.
Pope Francis addressed the problem of JWs, Evangelicals and Fundamentalists- 'God does not have a magic wand'...

I remember vivid scenes in Kingdom Halls and in the homes of JWs who used extreme measures to discipline their children. A father and assistant P.O. gut stomping his teenage son in front of me in their home. Belts, wooden spoons, cords were brought to KHs and the cries of kids from the bathrooms could be heard in the main hall.
When corporal punishment on minors became a felony in California in the mid 1980s we began to see a decline in public punishment among the JWs.
i have to admit, i teared up a little when i read this.
but then, i'm a sucker for romance:.

No changes for the future? Changes to how humans act? That is going to be a long road. The Scandinavian countries began a process after WWII to change and look how far they have come in 70 years. We can to.
the date: july 3-6th, 1986.
(a hot 4th of july weekend) this was the "divine peace" district convention.. location: the capital centre, landover, maryland.
usa.. my age at the time: 6 yrs old.. the wt representative giving the keynote address: none other than vp of watchtower, milton g. henschel.
I remember Henschel at a San Diego District Convention. He was standing in the parking lot after the program and visiting with many of the friends. He seemed very relaxed and approachable. Very unlike Schroeder and Franz who I had seen up close years earlier.
Well they're all gone along with our parents. Chasing dreams.

DOC, the President has publicly addressed Michael Brown's death, both offering condolences to the family and calling for the public's restraint as the case works its way through the Justice System. The President has also strongly supported the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department and the My Brother's Keeper program. Eric Holder also made a personal trip to speak to the Police Department personnel and the people of Ferguson. As to Mr. Powell and Ms. Rice there is nothing in the News I could find on any comments they've made, but that's may be just how the News world plays favorites of the month.
