The Governing Body is a spiritual corpse. Their spiritual insides are rotting and cannot be reformed or revived.

Poor Governing Body. They keep looking up for God's help and never get an answer.

Maybe this board is their answer from God.

Could God create a rock so heavy He could not lift it?

one question that stretched theologians during the middle ages was; could god envision or make a four sided triangle or a three sided square or some other atrocity.

at first the problem seems foolish, but it really is an instance of a more fundamental problem: is god bound and limited by the laws of reason and logic or not?.

i've had this conversation on jwd before but i was never satisfied with it.

Science changes just as much as many claim the Bible does.

I put my faith in what Jesus taught and I also enjoy the sciences as well. Truth is not limited to one field, whether secular or religious truth is there to be found.

The Witnesses are obsessed with being "different" instead being what Jesus taught us to be.

"Pioneer Syndrome" - Pioneers from the 1990's are getting very sick in 2009! Theories?

just heard sister g______ is very ill and not looking good at all.

shes in her 40's and looks like an old lady!

very tired she can barely manage to work a day or two because she has to...i myself crashed with glanduar fever and was tired for 4 years...still others have developed "pioneer syndrome" tired, always ill with no cure, increased need for sleep.

The Watchtower trains the publishers to believe whatever they're told. The Awake magazine's health articles cause a convenient self-hypnosis in some that affords the publisher or pioneer the emotional support they lack from their high stress religion. The expectations for women are high in the Organization:

be submissive to your husband

keep a model home

be a model mother and wife

support your elder husband don't make too many demands on his time

be a model publisher or pioneer

working women are expected to do all of the above

believe everything the Watchtower men tell you because they are appointed by Jehovah to care for you

keep your children in the truth or they'll die at Armageddon

don't speak to your disfellowshipped son or daughter

always remember that you are a woman and not entitled to teach even your own unbaptized teenage son without a headcovering

if you truly love Jehovah you would all of the above if you're not doing all of the above then perhaps you should study more and go in field service more in order to appreciate all that Jehovah has done for you

the "priscilla" deliberations.. gb subcommittees now re-considering role of women in the organization.. example of phoebe as "diakonos" revisited.. could women be appointed to ministerial servant positions in view of the need in congregations?.

what's your take on latest rumors?

The Society changes when it is forced to, as we all know. If they should allow the use of women in ministerial positions this is only because they are hurting real bad in many congregations. If that is so that would mean the younger generation of male JWs is either leaving or not interested in positions of responsibility. As usual then, the Organization is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they use women in more traditional male roles they lose the fertile ground, the ministerial positions, in which they have grown their future elders. If they do not use the sisters they drive what elders they have further into the ground.

If they are contemplating using more sisters they will probably create a new category of service specifically for the sisters. It seems they are already trying hard to shore up the younger generation and using sisters may be an avenue they could use to shame the younger men into standing up for Jehovah.

Using sisters as ministerial servants would be an extension of a practice the Society has had in place for decades. In congregations that have too few brothers the sisters have been used in minor congregational roles traditionally given to men. For instance the accounts servant years ago could be sister if enough brothers were not available. The sister assigned to this role would give the accounts report at the podium just like the brother would but she had a head covering. Using this model there is no reason why sisters could not handle literature and other ministerial responsibilities.

I welcome this change, if it should be correct, but it is not so much a new change but rather an extension of what they have already been doing for years.

MY APOLOGIES TO ALL

looking back over the last few weeks, i think i've been unnessarily rude to some posters and i just want to apologize to anyone who has been on the receiving end of my anger recently.. i believe that i'm so angry, dismayed, devastated and heartbroken over what's happening to my brother in law, that i've been taking it out on others and that's not right.

it makes absolutely no difference what i think of the wts as a whole, or whether or not americans have a universal healthcare system......none of that makes any difference whatsoever when someone you love and has been like your brother for 35 years is dying and there's not a fucking thing we can do about it.. my sister just called me and there's more bad news, and that's that his disease has now progressed into the acute myeloid leukemia which means he cannot start the therapy they were going to give him, as this is far more serious now.

they want to start chemo right away, but his blood counts aren't up high enough for him to survive.
