Its ridiculous!
I never understood the generation thing when I was in but now I look at it as an independent thinker it makes no sense whatsoever! I just hope that one day my parents will wake up to this and all the others who are stuck in the cult.
from jw.org, here is the new definition of the generation from the april 15, 2010 watchtower.. .
article: holy spirits role in the outworking of jehovahs purpose.
13 third, holy spirit is at work in bringing bible.
Its ridiculous!

hi all, its time i stopped lurking around here.
i've been posting at jws for just over a year, i know a few names here and it looks like there is lots of good banter going on.. i am a second generation, born-in who grew up in west-central scotland.
i pioneered in edinburgh and later married and settled in berwick just south of the border.
Welcome cofty from another one of the Scottish contingent.
being a bit slow, i just finished reading the january 22 "awake!
", and back-translating from "polish" into poor english, on page 9 is the article "a reasonable view on the peace of your private life" or something like that (as said, back-translated ....).
ok, on page 12, second paragraph left column under the sub-heading "a reasonable view", first couple of lines, it is stated: "the creator has the right to know all our private affairs, but people have not.
free - do you realise this was last posted on 6 years ago?
hiya guys and gals.
im not trying to be self-righteous but i want to understand the thought process of someone who knows the origins of christmas, but starts celebrating it (putting up christmas tree, exchanging wrapped gifts; repeating merry christmas to everyone they see in the month of december)??
it seems very silly to me (imo) after knowing how and why christmas was created (to cater to pagans sun worship and convert to christianity)!!
I'm repeating what others have said but for me:
-i'm agnostic now and don't know if I believe in any of the bible but even putting that aside its a nice time of year. People are relaxed and friendly and it makes me feel good
- i feel like it's he way that i can show (mainly to myself) i no longer consider myself a jw (i'm a fader).
Pissing myself with laughter here!!!!
Besty you've brightened up my evening here!
does the publication contain peacock terms?
it is even full of them at times?.
peacock terms promote the subject of the article without imparting verifiable information.
I think its got worse over the years.
if two jws were in great standing and getting married in a kingdom hall, who would officiate their wedding?
could an elder do the whole thing, or would a justice of the peace have to do part with the talk from the elder?.
I hate those wedding vows. Respect is a two-way thing not one way as those vows make out.
has anyone in the uk seen this programme.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00p4dyl.
unfortunately, non-uk residents are not able to watch this transmission on internet...is there anyone who might see it who would download it somehow and download it and share it.. if anyone has seen it, how was it?.
cantleave - I was referring to an old poster who would keep going on about how she told the elders she posted on here and that they were ok with it. She was a complete fantasist.
In a way I can understand the programme. I was in a similar situation growing up and was around her age. I had no witness friends either and it was very difficult.
However, i don't for one second believe that the parents were active witnesses.

Watching it at the moment! Maybe they're in one of those "liberal" congregations in England where they can do martial arts. You know the kind - where the elders say its ok to come on boards like this one!
just remembered some insane old laws that were preached from the platform when i was in:.
jazz: is a slang word for sex, therefore jazz is not for christians ( jw's).
rock and roll: ditto it describes sex therefore is bad.
Yes talking about sex is bad. The only exception is during the Washtowel "study" where oral and anal sex is discussed in front of children.
