Finding Men in the Territory
by WTWizard injust when you thought it couldn't possibly get any worse, along comes the august 2009 kingdumb misery.
therein, "meet the challenge of witnessing to men" comes along.
they are whining that there are too many women and not enough men (i wonder if they are hearing about "sisters" not finding mates within the cancer, or just because they need men to run the show because they do not want women running it).. they continue with a couple of stock examples of reaching men.

Weird stuff individuals believe
by bluecanary inthis thread doesn't just have to be about jws.
it's about the weird stuff that isn't taught by the religion, but an individual believes it.
my examples:.

I know somebody who didn't let her daughter watch The Little Mermaid cause it showed too much cleavage..... Also while out in service one day I was talking to this little girl about 6 and we were talking about movies we had just watched. She asked "Have you seen Jumanji?" and I was like "yeah, it was a really cool movie, we really liked it" and she said "WE BURNED IT!!!!!" AWKWARD!!!!

Most Detested WT Publication
by Nosferatu inwhat is the wt publication you hated the most (i mean besides all of them?).
mine was that faggy pink "listening to the great teacher" book.
my mother tried to teach both me and the neighbor's worldly kid lessons from that book, and you know how embarrasing it is for a boy to be put straight by a pink book?.

Definitely the old family life book that was printed in the 60's.....it was soooo demeaning to women. I just remember being 13 and sitting there disgusted when the book said something to the effect "a woman should keep her appereance up as it is hard to feel affection for somebody who is not attractive" and that she should strive to carry on conversation as "if Adam just would've wanted companionship he could've had a dog" or something like that......DISGUSTING!!!!

My issues with women ...
by The Berean ini have always viewed women as more clever, manipulative, and intelligent than me.
no, i never walked around voicing my bias ... yet, over time, i must confess i have been afraid of the opposite sex.
it has only been in recent times that i have begun to fairly evaluate each individual by their conduct and not their gender.. why do i bring this matter up on this particular site?

I think what you need to remember it is YOUR perspective and everybody has their own perspective. I myself am an incest survivor (thanks bro) and a product of an unstable home in which my father was an alcoholic who abused my mother physically and verbally when he was drunk and heck when he was not drunk. I in turn cannot say "all men are evil raging alcoholics who abuse their wives and all brothers are child molestors." I have to realize we are all individuals and to give everybody a chance. The point is NOT to stereotype. Are there some trust issues, yes definitely. However, your post struck a nerve with me because this organization is sooooo oppressive of women it is pathetic. It is definitely not a female dominated religion by any means as basically women have no rights and are viewed as second class citizens. Have you ever thought of how humiliating it is to "give a talk" and have to pretend having a conversation with another female so you would not be teaching????? How about having to put a scarf or some other head covering on because there is no brother present or having some 9 year old boy try to take care of the group for service and he has no idea what he is doing and yet we females are definitely qualified and we cannot. How about if you have a problem with the body of elders you have to have your husband go and voice your concerns as you will not be labeled a "JEZEBEL." It is like you don't even exist. I didn't mean to come off as harsh but there are many people out there (like myself) who have undergone great injustices and yet we still remember to give everybody a fair chance.......

Wow, it is so amazing to me that when a man has a bad experience with his "mommy" growing up he in turns grows up and in some way hates all women. If you crunched the numbers you would see that far many more women are victimized by fathers, uncles, brothers, boyfriends, etc. than comparing that with men who are victimized by mothers, aunts, sisters, girlfriends, etc. What is interesting is that these female victims grow up and typically take their frustration out on themselves. However, men who experience the same abuses grow up to be serial killers, serial rapists, molesters, murderers, etc. Oh and I am surprised you left the organization since if you read their articles from the 70's and 80's they go as far as to say "women were to blame for rape because they used boys as sexual objects when they were little".......sounds to me like you need to go back to the organization because there you can take out all of your hatred and disdain for females by opressing them into "submission". You could constantly remind them they are to be "silent" and you could monitor what they wear and counsel them when they are "immodest"......Please do us all a favor and go back.....THANK YOU!

"Negotiating a Reasonable Bride Price" - anyone seen this article??
by ziddina ini was looking for articles on mennonites on the official wtbts website when this article caught my eye:.
negotiating a reasonable bride-price.
today, as in bible times, some cultures require that a bride-price be paid before a man can marry a woman.

Help me with the logic of this
by Magwitch ini was married for 20 years to a brown nosing, power hungry elder.
his headship was so overbearing i was basically a prisoner.
he would not let me associate with my dear parents (father an elder, mother a pioneer) because they were too liberal as witnesses (they did things like save seats at the assemblies when we were told not to).

So sorry you have to put up with all of the crap. The reason why you can't make sense of it is because it just doesn't make sense!!! Stuff like this really makes me sick and this kind of junk happens all of the time. I hope your parents "liberal" part of them will kick in and reach out to you....Do they know how he treated you?

Recent article on bride price
by meangirl ini am new to the site so forgive me if i'm doing this wrong but somebody posted an article by the society recently on the christian view of brice price or something like that (sorry don't know how to find it) and it really sickened me.
something that i have been dying to say and registered just to do so is that they are so full of it!!!
does anyone remember the article back in the 40's about how it was not right to tip your hat at a women because that would be elevating her above the man and that the woman was never to be elevated above the man......yet during our modern times they write an article saying that this custom is not wrong or demeaning but rather how to do it in a "christian" way.......so tipping your hat to a woman is wrong but apparantly selling your daughter is aokay?????

The next thing they will have out is an article entitled "Applying Christian Principles in a Polygamous Marriage"........cause that was done in bible times too!!! It will probably be something to the effect of how even though the wives outnumber the husband they are still to remember that he is THEIR head and remember how Sarah called Abraham "Lord" in her heart. Also, how wives would want to be sure they are not envious of each other and also to remember the very difficult job their husband has of not only balancing all of his familes but all of his responsibilities at the congregration too. They would admonish Christian women they are "to be silent" and not nag, etc. etc. blah blah blah...... It is so amazing how they can twist things so much. Maybe if they did come out with such an article alot of people might wake up and come to their sense......nah wishful thinking. Also as a side point, how many of you ever heard the illustration"If somebody offered you a glass of water but told you there was one drop of poison in it would you drink it? Certainly not because that one drop would kills us and they always applied that in being faithful in little things, etc. So going on their logic, how could a "fraction" of blood be okay?????? Just another crazy double standard......I guess you have to laugh or else you would probably go crazy

Hi all. I am new to the site so forgive me if I'm doing this wrong but somebody posted an article by the society recently on the Christian View of Brice Price or something like that (sorry don't know how to find it) and it really sickened me. To me this really shows how much this organization hates women. I mean they go so far as saying we shouldn't follow "traditions of men" but that is exactly what the whole bride price is, It is A custom based on man's traditions. Yet, they make such a big deal of other customs like "pep rallies" "football games" "mother's day", etc. It just doesn't make any sense......It makes me want to pull my hair out!!! Anyway, hope I made sense and thanks for letting me vent!!! I just can't wrap my head around their double standards!!!!
