my wife and i were just invited on vacation for the spring with a large group of jws. the group goes every year, and every year we go with them. i was going to decline but my wife really wants to go. i will admit that the group that goes is rather wild even for "normal" non jws and they never do anything "spiritual".
looking back on it, we always seemed to take vacations with large groups of witnesses to the ocean or the mountains. is that a common jw thing in most congregations?

lancelink, that particular trip we saw the rolling stones.
i remember another time while we were dating also that my soon to be wife and was at our new apartment that we were going to move into. i did not know she was going to be there and i wanted to stop by and drop off some clothes. we were about 4 days out from the wedding. i stopped in and she was there and we never thought anything of it. a jw that lived in the same apartment building at the time told the elders they saw both our cars there and that they knew we were alone in the apartment. they figured only a couple days out, they were not going to make trouble for us. The jw who "told" on us was always in everyone else's business and the elders always took this one with a grain of salt.

i have one. wanted to go to a concert and bought two tickets. my wife, who i just started dating, was really excited. we mentioned to a brother where we were going. he went insane finding out we were going by ourselves. it was so bad, i ended up selling the two tickets and buying three to take a chaperone with us and the seats were horrible. the first seats i had were very close to the stage. the couple we sold the tickets to were in our congo and to this day, they still talk about how they were the best seats they ever had.

we had a sister that would always complain about cologne and perfume smells all the time. i would sometimes put on my strongest cologne and sit behind her on purpose. it was mean to do but i enjoyed making her upset. she was nasty and rude and i always felt it was my one dig at her. i guess i will not get forever in paradise for that one.

JW Discussion Board Lifts Another Story from Another Religion
by blondie inhttp://ohr.edu/yhiy/article.php/3956/html/rss/.
several years ago a rabbi from out-of-state accepted a call to a community in houston, texas.
some weeks after he arrived he had an occasion to ride the bus from his home to the downtown area.

most stories are just that. stories. i remember when i was studying with the jws i was always told that if it wasnt in the magazine or came directly from a co/do, do not hold any weight to the story.

They "can give gifts on any day of the year"... But do they?
by Albert Einstein inhow many times we had heard from jw (commenting on christmass, mothers day or bithdays) "they dont need a pecial day set to give gifts, because the can give it on any day" .... but whats your experience if you compare jw and non jw ... are they really giving?.
my sons (7) example:.
he has non jw grandparents: gets all kinds of gifts all the time, sweets, magazines, toys,.

i will say that my wife and her family are very good about giving gifts through out the year. more so my wife than anyone else. most of the congo was always good about doing little things for others and doing gifts for anniversary or baby shower or wedding or any other time of year just to do something nice.
we had a sister who used to buy the kids in the congo stuff all the time. and she would buy for kids who may be coming to the meeting with parents who are studying. after she died, no one else went to that degree with the kids

i completely forgot this story until i was rereading this post and dogs came up. i was at a door with an older sister who was famous for being an animal lover. she always bragged how no animal would ever attack her. so we are at this door and while waiting for someone to answer, this big dog comes around the corner out of the open garage. i am scared. she says not to worry and calls the dog over. she starts her thing with this dog and he is just rubbing up against her and she keeps petting him and kissing him on the top of his head. while this is going on, a lady comes to the door and i start my sales pitch. the whole time i am doing this, the lady at the door is just staring at the older sister and the dog. as we get ready to leave, the older sister says what a lovely dog this lady has and very friendly. the lady smiles and says that the dog is never friendly with anyone and she was glad to see that the dog was on his best behavior with her. she then mentions that she had him out of the house until she could give him a bath since he had rolled in his own diarrhea earlier in the morning.
i almost had a heart attack from laughing so hard.

Anyone ever join the military after leaving?
by DocHayes ini was raised a jw and never knew much of anything besides it.

), and officially da'd myself in january of 2004. later that year, i enlisted in the navy reserve as hosptial corpsman.

i do not know anyone. my wife has said once in the past that she knew a brother who was df'd and shortly after left home to join the military. she said he had very little options since his job before being df'd was pioneer and he could not find a job. i could see why some do it though. you want a sense of belonging and purpose at that age (18-34) and the military is a place that gives you that along with life skills and job training for the outside world.
