Tomorrow will be one of the PROUDEST days of my life.
by nicolaou iniv'e been posting here a long time but here's something i never shared before .
i'm still a window cleaner.
i'm not going to rant at the 'society' because they don't own my anger anymore but my work is certainly a legacy of my cult past.

Anyone got the December KM yet for UK
by alanv inas it is the end of the jw service year, it would be nice to see how they finished up in august 2010 as regards total publishers.. quite often there seems to be a big push to get as many as possable to put in a service report to finish the year off.. so a scan would be good or just a report on how many publishers they ended up with.
thanks.

Here in the UK it is the immigrants from poorer countries where the increase is.
I reckon Europe could go stagnant this year - Germany and Scandinavia are often the "zero" heroes!
I wish all you happyclappy USA types would go minus for once! That would really give the boys in Brooklyn a scare!

"That Letter" about sisters not allowed to spiral-bind the new elders manual
by freddo inyou know, the one from the usa branch/brooklyn.. well i ventured a question to a relative who is an elder here in the uk to see if a similar letter had been sent to elders here.
he knows i was an elder and he lets me joke with him to a certain level about how controlling the society is lately.. he confirmed that one has been received and he laughed because it says you can use a d-ring binder (which i guess is the equal uk term for the us "spiral bound" as long as you don't let worldly people do it and that you have to watch the brother do it.).
i asked whether sisters were allowed to do it and he said even the society wouldn't go that far and smiled.. sooooooo .... i am wondering if this uk letter has had the "sister" stuff pulled because it is such an embarrassment?.

Sorry I can see my post can be read both ways. The elder I spoke to in the UK said yes there was a letter saying don't let unbelievers bind the new elders book and that if a brother did it you had to stand over him. I asked whether there was anything about sisters not being allowed to do it. (because I have seen the USA christian cong of jw's letter on this site) and he said there was nothing about sisters in the (UK) letter and he laughed meaning even the society wouldn't go as far as to put that in print!
Any UK takers?

Thanks Scully - I get that - but whether elders are allowed to "spiral" or "D-ring" their "flock books" isn't my main thought - it's that I am wondering if the sisters being "not allowed" has been dropped from the UK version.
If so I think that is because of embarrassment at being caught out on the web!!!.

KS10 Chapter Five Discussion
by yknot inreiteration that the below is a discussion of chapter 5 from 'shepherding the flock of god' which is published by the wts of penn/ny.
the wts is a non-profit that distributes it's publications free of charge worldwide.
this particular publication while not for sale (well none of the wts publications are either technically) is not distributed broadly but is still nonetheless part of their bible educational work, while not required donations are joyful accepted by all jws for the purpose of this work....... here are the previous discussion threads:.

Any change in the appointed men moving congregation procedure? That's a good opportunity to resign if you can work it.

I say this tongue in cheek (partly anyway! ) to those with difficult parents:
When you know you are to be disfellowshipped, write a letter to your mom and copy in individually the body of elders, and everyone in the congregation for whom you have an address.
Dear Mom,
I understand you are having difficulty with how you view the rules of your religion. I also understand you wish to see your grandchildren. You may do so.
However, we live in an age where a few people are abusive to children; either physically, sexually or are poisonous to them, either verbally or by their actions (they may even shun their children's parents - can you believe that?!). To protect our children we have decided that certain folk may only see our children when in the presence of their parents and we include you in this category.
If over time you can show that you show respect to us as their parents for our beliefs then we may extend this privilege further; but we know that at present the strictures of your religion, their enforcing by congregation elders and your own intransigence stops this.
For our part we undertake, out of respect for your faith, never to mention your religion in your presence and further agree to only discuss necessary family matters with you. This will include civility and decency in the way we talk to each other including customary greetings.
Please contact us soonest to come and see Damien, Lolita and baby Bundy, we will have coffee and cakes prepared.
I do hope you understand,
Your ever loving son and daughter-in-law,
Clyde and Bonnie
