The Daily Mail and the Daily Express - better known as the Daily Wail and the Daily Excess. They really are a load of tripe. They are no better than the "redtops" and simply thinly disguise their nonsense with a very thin veneer of respectability.

OK - as an ex elder I always ask why. Why did the GB feel the need to send this updated version of "following up" inactives.
They didn't make a huge fuss about losing people when the figures were steadily rising with no additional manipulation from them. This didn't change until after the generation change/millenium when they were slowing down and stagnating in numbers especially in the west.
Then it was go out and reactivate, allow 15 mins reporting, tacitly encourage low age publishers, double counting of study time with husband and wife, reduce the meeting load etc. Which has kept the small increase going and encouraged the less committed to stay.
Now the internet and all it's little demon websites and social networks is waking up people as to how to stay in, keep under the radar and/or fade without blowing their cover.
So now a subtle change IMO - if the elders go out on an inactive call and John75 or Christine95 or Ed"Overlap" or Jane "Blinkin' light" let slip that "false prophecy" has eroded their faith in the FDS then instead of going back with "they ain't interested chaps try again next year or let 'em drift" - they go back with "they ain't interested but let's check with the service desk" and the SD will hint that they need to go back and check again with the golden Q. of "do you believe the org is Jah's one true and only never to be removed spiritual feeder elevated above the angels (including JC) so help me God? err Ted?"
And then it's bye bye fry fry time of the; they've DA'd by their actions and so God's clean (barf) org is kept that way. And the elders "know the drill" next time. This is all about apostasy (TM) and keeping a lid on it as it bubbles away more and more in every circuit and branch office in the western world.
This is an organisation that lets the likes of Michael Porter the Paedo stay in and hangs out to dry decent people who question the dictats on doctrine (Paulapollos?)!
Sorry if that turned into a UK rant.

I saw an interview by Piers Morgan of Cliff Richard last night - and he came across as a thoroughly decent man. If I am as fit as he is at 70 then I shall be very pleased indeed!

Does your K Hall post the Dress & Grooming 4 Bethel Visitors info?
by Open mind inour co has made sure that the local boe permanently posts the "dress & grooming 4 bethel visitors" flyer inside the k hall.. .
i've checked out 3 other local halls and they have it posted too.. .
this is a really stupid marketing idea from the gb, imo.

And the elders have had a letter/email to say they can use it to show what is appropriate dress in the KH too!
And look at that poor kid on the front! What freaking idiot thought that was a good idea! I mean her mother looks pretty good to me in her gear but that poor girl is dressed like no teenager should!

Oh, yeah - it's on all noticeboards and there is always one (at least) spiritual policeman elder that goes round yappin' about denim skirts in the kingdom hall too.
I'd love to print out that photoshopped copy above, cut out the pic of the girl in the witch costume and fix it to the copy on our noticeboard when no-one is looking! Someone tell me how to print out just that post - pretty please.
Oh and another thing! Why can the African brothers and sisters turn up with nightshirts and Quality-Street sweet wrappers on their heads?

Blood Transfusion? Yes Please
by finallysomepride inon monday night i ended in hospital with kidney stones (5th time) this ones plagued me for the last 2-3 years.. i recieved all the necessary pain killers to settle things down, so i was comfotable most of tuesday.
tuesday night the specialists came to see me, & they asked about me being a jw and would i still refuse a blood transfusion.. immediatley i said no to being a jw & yes to a blood transfusion, i had been wonderng for sometime what would be my awnser be, & how quick i would responde to these questions, so now i know.. by the way there was alot relief on the faces of the specialist when i answered this way.. they have only so far put a stent in to relieve the pressure from the stone blocking the kidney, further treatment to come but could be some months away.. so anyway i'm still in hospital, thank god for netbooks & wireless broadband, i go home 2moro.. just thought i would share what i've been through these last couple of days, & to say i really am feeling like i'm now free of the borg.. kevin.

Perhaps I can help?
I was a well-known elder in our circuit appointed as MS at 20, Elder at 28 - public talks away for twenty years, started doing that as an MS which was pretty unusual - did circuit assembly items including two baptism talks etc - RBC team overseer - Attendant Captain at DC and even a talk at the DC once at the height - or is that depth? - of my spiritual career. All my family, wife - sister - adult kids - nephews and nieces - elderly father and others are devout, but thankfully not rabid JW's. I resigned in 2004.
My wife, adult kids and sister know my doubts but have basically said that as long as I don't go public or DA/DF they will continue to have normal family relationships. We all get on fine; they know the real reason why I came off being an elder - helping with Dad's care - doubts, treadmill, don't believe the crock of shit prophecy anymore and the catalyst - a dominating CO - gave me the way out without my resigning upsetting my elders (they "understood").
So I carefully and deceitfully keep my good standing - I can even run a microphone on a stand-in basis and "help the hall servant".
This is my schedule until my father dies (sorry if that sounds bad) which could be tomorrow or ten years, who knows?:-
Sunday meetings 2 a month. Mid week 2 a month. Give a somewhat "off-beam" answer once a month. Claim work or sick and tell my wife "I don't want to" as well. She's pretty good about it. I get a Bible reading once per schedule and a talk 3 (old talk 4) once a year which I slant away from traditional GB worship. I even get to represent the congregation in prayer on rare occasion - go figure!
Ministry once a month visibly at congregation Saturday effort - I work alone with some NH's where possible - do a couple of visible pretend doorbell ringings, disappear to the local DiY shop or similar and arrive back at the territory after "doing a RV" about an hour later to hand in my NH's appropriately doctored. I report 6/7 hours "every month" which includes a "phantom incidental witnessing at my place of work".
My wife and I are not restricted by "Watchtower Bedroom Law", my mind is completely free and being a happily married male in my late forties I am content with my lot and my lies as to me it is theocratic warfare in reverse and a tool for my mental and emotional survival.
Some of the stuff in the new testament is good advice - work hard, don't be over anxious, provide for your own - watch out for love of money - care for your family - don't judge etc - and I try to follow it to a reasonable degree.
At the moment it is working and I think a geographical move after my father's passing will aid a fade into inactivity.
I'm not proud of the above actions and if I was alone I would have walked out long ago - I even fantasize about doing a "little toe" at the end of a talk 3 but I'm too much of a coward to lose my family ...
