SOME ENCOURAGEMENT FOR THE NEWBIES AND LURKERS
by palmtree67 ina quote from "crisis of conscience".
don't be afraid to read it.. .
whatever the initial distress - a distress that sometimes follows the demenaing experience of being interogated by men who, in effect strip one of dignity, make the weight of their authority felt, and presume to judge adversely one's standing with god - however torn one may feel inside, afterward there is a distinct feeling of relief, of peace.

Sounds to me like they're throwing out some bait.
So that if you get all hot about their twisting what
was published and leaving part of the truth out then
they have smoked out the "conscious class" folks,
those who know better and are disgusted with the
perpetual half-truths and their revision of history.
Maybe I'm getting more paranoid, but it just seems
like the do this type of thing on purpose just to have
some folks get disgusted and leave the organization.

by evangelist 1 ini would like to know does jhw teaches what grace is , and how to recieve grace without any works , merits and qualifications?.
what is saved grace to jhw?.
if we are saved in the name of jesus why do they have to do things like go witnessing , and etc to get god to accept them when grace has already made us righteous un jesus and not jehovah?.

I enjoyed reading this. Very interesting.
Thanks, I just had to rant a bit. The sustainability idea
fits with the recent and ongoing changes at WTSociety HQs.
It's just amazing how much they care about the Corporation
and how little regard they have for the people that have
given their lives to make it what it is today. All those
counted hours and millions upon millions of contributions.

Mad Sweeney said:

Which got me to thinking. It's true it seems that the Brass at Bethel
isn't very concerned with the thousands that leave as long as they
have a percentage or two of total increase and the money situation
is in the black.
The whole idea of Watch Tower Sustainability came to mind. They @
Head Quarters look at numbers like most corporate companies. It's all
about the numbers. The WTSociety is rich beyond idea since they keep
a lot of different corporation names and addresses and their holdings
are huge. The assets of such a company must be really enormous for
them to feel confident about a move to hicks ville in Warwick NY. Why
the move to the country? Because they're scared of the situation in
NYC. They learned from 9/11 and know that sooner or later the toxicity
of the city is going to hurt them bigtime. The buildings they're accustomed
to in the city are worth a lot of money, but money that's frozen in brick and
concrete, money that doesn't do them much good. Now that they have
excellent means to build new and the volunteer labor for it, the move to
the country makes a lot of sense, it frees up money, more money than the
new projects are going to cost them. Sustainability demands it.
The contributions will still be coming in, lots of contributions from over seven
million willing enablers. The new pay back method of loan mortification is a hoot.
Every May the congregation takes a survey of pledged contributions. Based on
this figure they adjust the payments for the year to the Society for money
borrowed for Kingdom Hall renovations. A lot of these renovations cost tens
of thousands of dollars on prettifying the KH which is probably owned by the
Society. Also the money they lent to the congregations comes from contributions
to the Worldwide KH building fund. They collect your contribution, get you to
borrow to make repairs and improvements to their buildings, then get you to
pledge a certain amount to pay each month of that specific year. How can
they lose on such a deal.
Every change the Borganization has been implementing lately is based on
cost cutting. The new arrangement on magazine distribution at the KH is
based on cost cutting and maximizing resources. As long as the growth is
a percentage or two overall, the Society doesn't mind if there's thousands
of discontented people leaving every year, as long as the influx of fresh
meat to sacrifice for the Borganization keeps coming in.
Sustainability! They are making long range plans looking to stick around
for a very long time while weekly reminding the R&F JWs to keep their
lives simple, no big expenditures, no owning homes, no having and
raising kids, no college eduction, instead Pioneer and support the
Worldwide Work through contributions and literature placements.
Is there anything new in this whole scam? Only that some Bethelites
must have gone to business school and succeeded in getting the GB
to look at the broad picture of Watch Tower Corporation Sustainability.
That's what the Borganization really cares about, sustainability.

The CONSCIOUS CLASS what does it mean to you, and do you consider yourself one of them?
by cattails inthere's a few posts where the term "conscious class" has been in just recently.. i'm wondering if it means the same to most jws and exjws who post here.. what does the "conscious class" mean to you?.
ok, no funny business about 'being conscious' as in awake and fully cafeinated.. if you could answer the two questions it may help some here to understand what.
this term is a lot better.

Dissed, you bring out a good point.
the "unconscious class" ... do you think that we all go through such a step.
Being disenchanted, bored to death at meetings, hoping to be able to get
out of the KH as soon as the prayer is said? I did, I admit it, even if I was
going through the motions my heart wasn't in it. I hated the fact that there
were the pretty families who got all the attention, parts on meetings, and
no matter how hard you tried there was always something wrong with me.
Something to criticize, something to counsel on, talks on the school, dress
appropriately, watch what you say to whom. etc. etc.
Until I woke up. What really helped was reading a few chapters of Crisis of
Conscience online when these were accessible through Wikipedia as a link
from Ray Franz's article there. Then I had to read the whole thing. It changed
my perspective in a big way.

Thanks for your responses. I appreciate that the issue of family relations came up.
The reason I'm still attending meetings is to keep up the front that everything's ok.
My father knows there's some questions and problems with doctrine in my mind.
What can you do when someone in your family is so loyal and devoted that their
only thought is unquestioning service to the WT?
I'm still a Christian. I haven't given up on my belief in God. This is different from
other people who may post here, but what we have in common is the realization
that the WT misrepresents the truth and gives people false hopes "within their
lifetime". But so many WT promises have gone by the wayside and instead of
admitting they led people on and gave them a false hope they turn around and
blame the very people they egged on by saying they "ran ahead" or they were
given to speculation.
I find it very disgusting that this "religious" corporation has so much control of
people's lives. It devastates me and I feel unable to do much about it. But I am
conscious of at least this much: I am mentally free of this Cult. And I hope one
day I will be physically and emotionally free too.

What does your sleep position reveal about your personality?
by Think About It inmine is the yearner position.. .
fetus position - a whopping 41% of participants sleep in this curled-up manner.
women are twice as likely to rest like this and it is listed as the most common position.

I find myself doing a sort of dance around. It's really weird.
I'm in one position then get tired of that and try another.
This post is starting to sound weird to me too. So okay,
mostly I'm the yearner, but freefaller and starfish are what
I wake up like. So I go to bed one way and wake up another.
I don't know what most of the night might be like except
sometimes I have to go pee. And when I do I'm so like a
zombie I don't know what position I wake up to.

If you could answer the two questions it may help some here to understand what
this term is a lot better. I consider myself one of them. It is strange that some in
my home congregation may also be of the 'conscious class'... There was an
estimate someplace that said up to a third of all active JWs are of the 'conscious
class'. That would be hard to believe. But it would be great if that were so.
What do you think? And thanks for your answers.
