honestly wonder if they really care that people leave.

Which got me to thinking. It's true it seems that the Brass at Bethel

isn't very concerned with the thousands that leave as long as they

have a percentage or two of total increase and the money situation

    is in the black.

The whole idea of Watch Tower Sustainability came to mind. They @

Head Quarters look at numbers like most corporate companies. It's all

about the numbers. The WTSociety is rich beyond idea since they keep

a lot of different corporation names and addresses and their holdings

are huge. The assets of such a company must be really enormous for

them to feel confident about a move to hicks ville in Warwick NY. Why

the move to the country? Because they're scared of the situation in

NYC. They learned from 9/11 and know that sooner or later the toxicity

of the city is going to hurt them bigtime. The buildings they're accustomed

to in the city are worth a lot of money, but money that's frozen in brick and

concrete, money that doesn't do them much good. Now that they have

excellent means to build new and the volunteer labor for it, the move to

the country makes a lot of sense, it frees up money, more money than the

new projects are going to cost them. Sustainability demands it.

The contributions will still be coming in, lots of contributions from over seven

million willing enablers. The new pay back method of loan mortification is a hoot.

Every May the congregation takes a survey of pledged contributions. Based on

this figure they adjust the payments for the year to the Society for money

borrowed for Kingdom Hall renovations. A lot of these renovations cost tens

of thousands of dollars on prettifying the KH which is probably owned by the

Society. Also the money they lent to the congregations comes from contributions

to the Worldwide KH building fund. They collect your contribution, get you to

borrow to make repairs and improvements to their buildings, then get you to

pledge a certain amount to pay each month of that specific year. How can

they lose on such a deal.

Every change the Borganization has been implementing lately is based on

cost cutting. The new arrangement on magazine distribution at the KH is

based on cost cutting and maximizing resources. As long as the growth is

a percentage or two overall, the Society doesn't mind if there's thousands

of discontented people leaving every year, as long as the influx of fresh

meat to sacrifice for the Borganization keeps coming in.

Sustainability! They are making long range plans looking to stick around

for a very long time while weekly reminding the R&F JWs to keep their

lives simple, no big expenditures, no owning homes, no having and

raising kids, no college eduction, instead Pioneer and support the

Worldwide Work through contributions and literature placements.

Is there anything new in this whole scam? Only that some Bethelites

must have gone to business school and succeeded in getting the GB

to look at the broad picture of Watch Tower Corporation Sustainability.

That's what the Borganization really cares about, sustainability.

Thanks, I just had to rant a bit. The sustainability idea

fits with the recent and ongoing changes at WTSociety HQs.

It's just amazing how much they care about the Corporation

and how little regard they have for the people that have

given their lives to make it what it is today. All those

counted hours and millions upon millions of contributions.

Sustainability is the only reason why they are leaving Brooklyn for rural NY state.

But what will they do with the cash?

seriously, if say they sell up all holdings in brooklyn and build up state, they are going to have huge amounts of $ left over. They dont need it to actually fund anything as the pledged donations and other collection boxes keep cash comming in, as well all the other investments etc etc.

So who benefits from all this money?

Some secret long forgotten share holder from Russells time? I seem to recall something about shares in the WT back then that have not resurfaced?

    Somebody living in the bahama's?

The GB's secret accounts in swiss banks?

Are they saving up to buy a small country? (maybe Greece?! i hear it needs bailing out) and move everybody there?

Or are they going to fill a building with dimes and swim in it like Scrooge McDuck?

    Any ideas?

The GB can travel in style and live rent free all over the world, they are wined and dined as celebrities. Have you ever seen one swinging a shovel at a construction site or serving food at meal times.

But that's Religion, go to many Evangelical Churches and its worse, they've risen fleecing people to an artform. The Gb are really amateurs at it.

Bethel isn't very concerned with the thousands that leave as long as they have a percentage or two of total increase

This has just triggered a theory so bear with me. In business this is known as churn - staff who leave (can also apply to customers) that are replaced by new ones.

When I worked at a specialist company a while ago a new manager came in. He wanted to secure his role in the long term by getting rid of any staff who might want his role. He caused staff churn despite this being expensive for the company (recruitment and training costs).

He made life so hard for all the people working for him they left when redundancy was offered. He then got new, willing recruits in who had less knowledge of the company and would accept him as an expert and not challenge him.

If the Borg has increasing churn which I suspect it has, then there are fewer experienced ones who can/will challenge the boys at the top. Anyone who has been recently recruited won't feel hard done by about changes in thought like the Generation. Anyone who does challenge them is removed, anyone who challenges elders on a local level is removed. It's all about keeping those with power in power.

Oh and as long as the money keeps rolling in...

Good theory, reducing the membership down to the hard-core believers is essential to them, and the way the new publications are constructed it puts off any serious discussion or debate.

Here's a very good article on the difference between for profit and non profit corporations. The corporation owns it, no individuals. Any money from the property goes back into the corporation. It's the law, otherwise the WTS would lose its non-tax status.

Agreed, they are good at getting free labour but poor at maximising contributions, although I know locally there was always an effort made for the elderly sisters who had no living relatives - those legacies boosted the KH building funds no end!
