How many of you knew about the"Jesus is not your Mediator" teaching when you were JWs??
by Lady Liberty inhi everyone.... just curious how many of you knew when you were active, about the societys official teaching regarding jesus the mediator.
i was floored to find in my research, that they teach jesus is the mediator for the 144,000 only.
and it is only by our association with them that we might have salvation.. i don't know about you guys but i was blown away when i learned they taught this.

“Mediator: One who interposes between two parties at variance to reconcile them.” —Insight, vol. 2, p. 360
If Jesus is Not Your Mediator “Reconciling” You to God, Who Is?
“Jesus Christ is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members.” —Worldwide Security Under the “Prince of Peace,” p. 10 (View PDFof this page)
“Think of a legal case in which an attorney is involved… Of course, you are not in that legal case, so in that sense he is not serving as your attorney… The people of all nations… benefit even now from Jesus’ services. Though he is not their legal Mediator, for they are not in the new covenant, he is their means of approaching Jehovah.”—The Watchtower, August 15, 1989, p. 31 (View PDFof this page)

The Void!
by BloominMarvellous inhi guys.
i need a little more advise, i have spoken to a couple of friends about this void i'm currently experiencing after leaving ( being ignored so decided to leave) the jws.. i feel alone, i'm now longer allowed on the ministry and im not having to study for meetings, so i have this massive great hole in my life.. it's the mental agony as well, kind of knowing that friends that you thought would always be there, arent any more.
and after two years of indoctrination, i feel that im displeasing jehovah or abandoning god.. my head was screwed anyway from ten years of depression and this thing with the jws has really taken its toll.. if you had any coping mechanisms i would love to know.. thank you in advance for your support x .

"God's Word [Jesus] speaks to his disciples through the holy spirit that he said he would send, just as he promised them that he would"
Does He speak to you Spike? Or are you not one of his disciples?

"Actually, they teach he was just a man. They say the price would be to great if Jesus was God"
This teaching is one of the foundational differences in Christian theology and JW'ism... JW's think Jesus was only of equal value to Adam and that he only paid Adam's sin debt so after that was paid man could "earn" favor in God's eyes. Unfortunately they fail to realize that in the case of Adam if Jesus was only a corresponding ransom for his (Adam's) sin then Adam would be the only one able to receive salvation. Jesus died for ALL sin ever committed of ALL men, women and children who would ever live. Sorry to break the news to you JW's but no angel or archangel or perfect man or anyone any less than GOD carries that kind of value to cover ALL sin. Especially considering we humans were made "a little lower than angels" (Heb 2:7).

Quickfire Questions to ask JW's at your door?
by ThomasCovenant inoccassionally (very) i have met jw's that don't know me and i would like to ask them something to make them think.. any suggestions for quick, simple, thought provoking questions to ask jw's that you may meet?.

Ask if independant thinking is still against their religion...
How come no one has ever become a Jehovah's Witness by just reading the Bible?
If you were on the wrong road, would pride or stubbornness prevent you from admitting it?
Have you ever wondered why Jehovah's Witnesses are instructed to ask this question of others but told they must never ask it of themselves?
Why is it vital for everyone else to question their religion but forbidden for you as a Jehovah's Witness to question yours?

Do You Consider yourself an Atheist / Agnostic / or Christian? Reasons ?
by flipper inafter having been raised in the jehovah's witnesses for 44 years ( getting out 6 years ago ) i have now come to peace with my view of what i personally feel about the existence of god , or no god, or whatever is flying around up there in outer space.
i am basically agnostic for sure / perhaps leaning atheist and i've come to that decision based on the years and years of unfulfilled false promises of being in a mind control cult ( jehovah's witnesses ) claiming to represent an alleged " god " or " jehovah " saying there would be a paradise, and armageddon to destroy 99% of the earths population.
also- i enjoy helping others without thought of being rewarded for it.

You're quite welcome Mouthy. Thanks for reading. ((Hugs back))
I've been posting for a while and been meaning to do an introduction thread but haven't gotten around to it just yet. Nice to meet you BTW.
I've seen so many other amazing things that my testimony pales in comparison to. I'd love to share those too at some point.
Sorry, not trying to hijack the thread.

If God’s battle of Armageddon where to occur tonight, do you know for sure you will survive?
At what point in your religion are you assured of eternal life? Are you saved after “taking in knowledge” of all of God’s requirements? After joining the Watchtower organization and trying to “endure to the end”? At what point do you have assurance?
If you survive Armageddon into God’s new system, are you guaranteed eternal life at that point or must you continue to strive to prove faithful through the 1000-year reign of Christ? At what point can you be sure you will not do something that will cause you to be destroyed?
If Jesus died for all of our sins, what sin can we commit that will cause us to lose the eternal life He gives (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24)? If there is nothing we can do to earn eternal life, how can anything we do cause us to lose it (Ephesians 2:8-9)? Do you have eternal life right now (John 5:24; 6:47)? If eternal life is eternal, how can one lose it (John 10:28-29)?
