Changes and why

so far these are all the recent changes i know of, please add more if i have missed anything.. 1. all construction projects have either been stopped or reduced.. 2. all bethels are downsizing by at least 20% within one year of the announcement, and almost certainly more in years to come.. 3. remaining belelites will have to make their own food, do their own washing and cleaning.. no more laundry department, no more kitchen and waiters, no more housekeeping!.

and you still only get 80 per month, but no rent or bills, and food will be provided in the family fridge but you have to prepare it yourself.. as to why, it has been said several times officially its not because of a lack of funds, but how could that possibly be the truth?.

What is the alternative to JW?

i mean this with all due respect, i would like to hear from genuine people who think jw have it wrong and then what is the truth?.

im not talking about silly little quibbles here and there.. is jehovah real?

If not whats the alternative? Logic, reason, and love. Develop Critical Thinking Skills and adopt a foundational principle of being Intellectually Honest.

I cant see how any thinking person can believe evolution. Please read a Science book on the topic. A couple that have been recommended by others on this site are: "The Greatest Show on Earth" by Richard Dawkins or "Why Evolution is True" by Jerry A Coin. When I have time I would like to read these. I have personally read "Your Inner Fish" by Neil Shubin and it was pretty good. If you do not know who Neil is, he was part of the team who discovered Tiktaalik.

Is it possible that they are nearest to the truth than any other religions? No. I will cite 2 reasons: 1) Their belief system is based on a factually inaccurate, contradictory, and forged book. 2) They have gone beyond what is written in this flawed foundational document, aka The Bible, and have made up their own ideas/definitions of what is written in the scriptures to the detriment and harm of many people, including my cousin who died refusing a blood transfusion. The social system known as Patriarchy has long outlived any usefulness it ever had, IF it had any to begin with.

For my part Im still going to meetings, some say Im sitting on the fence so Im actually out, fair enough, at least Im thinking for myself.

I commend you on your willingness to ask questions and think for yourself. Unfortunately, these are not traits JWs are encouraged to possess. I wish you luck in your journey.

Watchtower's response to Royal Commission shows they have learned nothing and will do nothing

i've quickly read through watchtower's submission to the royal commission.

seems like they aren't planning to change policy anytime soon.

they are critical of how the royal commission handled the situation.. the tone is of the submission is shear arrogance.

Sometimes I think Jehovah's Witnesses overuse the word "historic"

he explained that every member of the governing body had hosted a show and they were starting over again.

that was all the explanation he gave.

I never understood field service...

it was always boring, and i was afraid that i was gonna get attacked by a dog.

i actually almost got attacked by a rottweiler once.

i didnt get paid for it, nobody listened to us, i actually had guys make passes at me while i was out doing street corner, i was always afraid i would get grouped and raped.

I have to agree with you Joliette about not understanding field service. I actually never went out as I couldn't find the specific scripture stating handing out Awake! and Watchtower magazines door-to-door was the 'works' Christ spoke about in the Bible and that this would ensure my eternal life. My Mom tried to tell me I was risking this but she could never back it up specifically with a scripture that says these magazines had to be handed out.

Of course, we all know now it's really just busy work. It isn't that effective but it makes JWs think they are doing God's work.

Edited to add: In the 25+ years my Dad went door-to-door he never once convinced someone to join. Those are some really crappy results.
