Need Help with Blood Transfusion Illustration
by Dissonant15 inplease, who can provide an intelligent rebuttal to the following illustration?
i always thought it was bullet-proof:.
"if your doctor directs you to 'abstain from alcohol' would you be ok to have it injected into your veins rather than drink it?

Alcohol and blood are not the same substance. You do not circulate alcohol in your circulatory system to stay alive. But you do circulate blood. Without blood, you will not live. -

Me and my younger bro were prepping to go to College in the early 1980s. My Mom tried to dissuade us as "the end was so close now". The 2 of us just looked at her with incredulity. I said "Mom, Armageddon was supposed to be here over 5 years ago."
And still, Armageddon has not arrived.

Shiva said: What is Guardians please?
Hi Shiva... one such reference is related to the testimony of Geoffrey Jackson during the Australian Royal Commission's investigation into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse Case #29 The Jehovah's Witnesses. Jackson referred to the Governing Body as 'The Guardians Of Doctrine', which interestingly enough, creates the acronym G.O.D.

Shiva said: have witnesses ever used the term The rapture? Is that not something catholic? Just wondering cos its been a while since I was in it...
Hi Shiva ... I haven't been 'in' for a while but I don't ever remember 'the rapture' being a term in the JW world. The rapture is typically a 'Christendom' doctrine. JWs do not believe all good people go to heaven, only 144,000 male anointed. All other JWs who have died before Armageddon are resurrected to a paradise Earth.

Ahum...only 130 languages
by menrov inin wt study edition december 2015, article called jehovah, the god of communication, par.
as a result, the new world translation is now available in whole or in part in over 130 languages.
to many jw's this will sound impressive.

When I was a kid, I was told that JWs are preaching to 'all the inhabited Earth'. This sounded quite fishy to me so I did some fairly simple math and concluded that this claim was false.
This indigenous Amazon rainforest tribe was discovered in 2008. Didn't the JWs jump on this to go and preach to them? Come on... they've had 7 years now! These people look like they need to learn about Da Troof...

Faulty Reasoning to Promote God's "Name"
by Dissonant15 inas i am newly awoken, i am daily having epiphanies & revelations now.
i've been casually wondering to myself since the propagandist broadcast about the name "jehovah" if it would be more proper to call him "yahweh" to myself.
well tonight the answer suddenly came to me: it doesn't matter.

Jehovah's Witnesses were once The International Bible Students. As a child I was told they renamed themselves but as an adult, I discovered that a schism occurred in the 1920's and the now known Jehovah's Witnesses re-branded themselves under Rutherford.
Also, doing research of the name of Jehovah will inevitably reveal that it is unpronounceable in Hebrew and therefore, an invention that came after the names 'El' and 'Yahweh'.
Yes, even God and religion evolve.

That's it! The Jesus stories are most reasonably explained as myth. History makes this obvious.
by Island Man ina careful examination of the historical pagan religious context existing at the time of the genesis of christianity leads any reasonable person to conclude that jesus is just another one of several similar myths.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kn7teoa9ark.

As Christopher Hitchens said: "What is more likely? That the laws of nature are suspended or an unmarried Jewish girl told a fib?" This works for ANY claim that does not follow natural laws - just replace 'an unmarried Jewish girl told a fib' with whatever far-fetched claim is being made.
I found this interesting video a little while ago of Bart Ehrman speaking about the criteria needed to establish historical accuracy:

Big Bang or Big Bust?
by redvip2000 ini noticed on the october issue of the awake magazine a much softer stance on the big bang theory.
now, i'm not sure if officially the org was ever against this theory ( i did not find much on this), but i do recall on a congregation level, there was constant mockery from jws about the idea that universe was the result of a big initial explosion.. we now see a softer position on this.
as the org now explains:.

So even if a cosmic explosion produced our universe, that would not contradict what is stated in the Bible."
While this statement is true, The Big Bang Theory does not include an explosion. This is a common misconception of the theory. So Botchtower did not bother to actually read a Science paper or article on what it really is.
The Big Bang Theory speaks of an initial point of singularity followed by a sudden burst of inflation or expansion. The expansion is still occurring today. While it is the most popular theory of the origin of the universe, it is not the only one.
I recently read this interesting article on the Theory: Big Bang Deflated?

The litter-a-trash can also be used as ground cover when starting a no dig garden bed or you can shred them and add them to your garden beds or compost as a carbon-rich nutrient.
