During Jackson's testimony, he stated that the elders were "friends" and not paid for what they do, that they perform this role out of love. It jolted me that Jackson would even say this. It speaks to a number of issues and may also be part of the reason why there is such a massive abuse problem in this religion.
As if to say, how can you expect these men to be held accountable or be able to handle the burden of all of this? I felt this was also a pivotal statement.
according to j.w.`s the 144000 are a literal number of people , both men and women taken from the earth to rule with christ jesus in the heavens .this would also include judging in this role.

i have seen some ask on this site how the active jw's are handling what is happening in australia.
here is my little experience from last night........ my parents were baptized in the late 30's as children and have never faltered in their determination to survive the great tribulation and live forever in paradise (even though they actively associate with all their df'ed kids).
my father is still actively serving as an elder and my mother has always been by his side.
possum... I have often thought that me and my bro's became emotional, mental, and spiritual orphans when our parents became zealous, baptized JWs. Mom is gone now... as soon as Dad goes, the final phase, that being the physical death of him will complete the process of us becoming complete orphans.
