Dragging Jehovah's name trough the mud!
by truthseekeriam inlistening to the first survivor testify to the australian royal commission really brought back some feelings i had put aside.. the feelings of guilt you feel for doing the right thing is extremely hard even when you know it's illogical it doesn't stop the abuse you do to yourself with these toxic thoughts of "dragging jehovah's name through the mud" i guess it doesn't help that you have the elders freaking out saying "reproach, reproach...this is bad!!
it took quite awhile for me to come to terms with how completely ridicules it is to think jehovah would want this hidden.
the truth is the religion wants it hidden and they are perfectly fine with destroying lives along the way!!

B the X said: She is paid to write reports and trot into courts saying, "[insert name here] is doing a wonderful job protecting children." She collects her money. Children continue to get abused.
This was my exact impression as well. I also wonder if anything will change because of the Royal Commission hearings. I doubt Botchtower will change unless there are new laws enacted that they must adhere to.

DD, I agree. I think the Royal Commission should also see the video where children are urged to give the Borg their ice cream money, the video from the convention of those 2 parents talking about shunning their children, as well as the July vid from Tony.
Can someone get this new video up somewhere's else so I/we don't create traffic to jw.borg? Thanks!

Ron - 'I Don't Recall' - DeRooy was sickened by what happened but did nothing about it due to the internal processes of his religion.
This is not a very good advert for anyone thinking of becoming a JW.
I really like the examiner Stewart.

Why I believe in God. Why I don't believe in God.
by The Rebel inhi i am delighted to be apart of the community.. having left the witnesses one of my first challenges was my believe in god.
naturally.. i have concluded that i am alive and conscious.
now my intuition tells me god exists, but my analytical thinking tells me god does not exist.

TheRebel... begin by looking at what you base your belief on. Does it hold up to scrutiny? You are in for some major sifting work.
How have you reconciled with the issue of theodicy?

Confidentiality. Confidentiality. Confidentiality. RC Hearing Day 5

Wasanelder Once ... I don't think there are specific questions in the video on what I'm asking but I would like some elders/ex-elders input on my questions.
I may have caused some confusion with my last statement in my post. It was just a thought... knowing how this group feels about women being in positions of power over men. Ron is looking rather bumbly.

My understanding is that the elders look at an accuser as being someone who asked for it or did something to provoke the abuse and therefore, has responsibility. Is this true for child abuse? I have read that it is but maybe not in all cases? Can any elders or former elders on here clarify this?
I was harassed at work by a male co-worker and my parents tried to implicate that I must have done something to illicit this. I was floored. I ensured they knew I had not.
I wonder how Ron - 'I Don't Recall' - De Rooy feels about a woman asking him these questions.

TheRebel ... as an adult, my parents could never engage much in discussion with me as they couldn't refute what I had to say. It would always end with the stunned silence and deer-in-the-headlights look from them. I assume this comes, at least in part, from the Borg's coaching not to continue engaging in discussion for fear it would stumble my parents. It was sad to watch my parents devolve. Their logic became broken, their critical thinking skills diminished. It bothered me a lot that they let their wishes override evidence. Wanting something to be true does not mean that it is.
As for pedophiles, Dad knew they were in the Borg. There is one in his previous congregation. Of course now, my Mom is dead, Dad doesn't even know what day it is, ties his shoelaces into numerous knots, and pours his soup into his shoes at lunch. Dementia is a bitch.
At least I don't have to listen to 'Heaven, the time is so short now. You need to become a Witness or risk dying at Armageddon and your eternal life.' Close to 50 years of listening to 'Armageddon is imminent' gets old real fast, equating this failed prophecy time and again to 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' fable. This rant becomes ineffectual over time and, as I pointed out to my Dad, the JW's lose credibility. In 2009 I finally told my Dad outright that I wasn't going to be a Witness. He was pushing me to join. The excuse du jour that Armageddon was closer than the inside of my eyelids was the terrible economy. I think he was very sad when I told him outright I wouldn't join. But man, 46 years and I hadn't joined up I think says something.
I have always been there to support my folks, though, and show them love as much as was and is possible.
As one of the Alzheimer's Society's support workers told me "Love transcends the dementia barrier."
