I love this statement wb. I find it truly amazing how many hours/days people spend on this sort of tripe when there are real, genuine, tough issues to tackle and solve in this world.

Wow.... your story resonates with me so much. I was your age when I started doubting. That was back in the late 1970s (yeah, I'm getting older... something the Watchtower said would never happen... hint #1 they are full of it).
I'll tell you what I did and I hope it helps. I secretly planned my life. It is good you have a goal of Art school. Do not give up on this. Look into how you can accomplish taking this after you graduate 'high school' (or the equivalent). My plan was to go and study Computers in College. And I did it. I just had my 30th career anniversary. There IS life outside of JW-land. ;0)
About money... my folks never saved for my education so I started working as a teenager. I babysat and got a part time job at a convenience store. Whatever you do, start saving your money. There are usually financial programs available to assist students with post-secondary education. I had to get a loan from the government in Ontario, Canada to help with my schooling. But I took it. AND... once I graduated College and got my job, I paid that loan back. One of the key things I did was to move away from home to go to school. It was a fun adventure. I got away from my parents trying to influence me with JW crap. And I got very busy.
You CAN do this. Start planning now. Look into how you can do this. And have fun!

hello all.. i haven't been here for some time to post as mainly i read the comments and such.
yesterday was a really interesting, unnerving experience though.
two sisters had called last week when i had an abscess on my tooth and was sort of sick from it.
My mother told me my eternal life was in peril because I didn't go door to door.
I asked her to point out the scripture that states handing out Watchtower and Awake! magazines and convincing people to join the Jehovah's Witnesses is the definition of works that would ensure I had eternal life.
She was unable to do so. And was quite annoyed. Typical.

i like most on here will have the same view most will have here about our planet.
in saying that however, i am incredibly gob smacked by the book written by eric dubay called 'the flat earth conspiracy'.

As for having JWs drop around, I would just tell them "My schedule is really busy. I'm not available."
That's what I do with my boss. A couple of times now my work has called me at home on the weekends and have left me messages. I just keep telling them "I'm not home on the weekends. You're never going to get me."
in the past i have read on this forum that the wt have a say in the "bedroom" of couples.
i thought that was a bit overkill at first, but recently i have come to conclusion that this is true.. the control administered by the wt cooperation on ones sex life is not on only intrusive, its damaging.
they control every aspect of ones thought and action, thus leading most down a path that said corporation wants them to tread.. this path is to get married young, and then eternal loyalty the the organisation.. so how can an organisation force you to get married young?.
This prayer before sex thing would be a 100% turn off for me.

Jehovah's Witnesses are recruiters. They do not study the Bible. Most JWs don't really even know the whole Bible. JWs are trained a certain way in order to convince you to join their religion (aka cult).
JWs study the Watchtower's publications, which are really just their sales aids, and use the Bible to back up what the Watchtower publishes, in order to convince you to join. If they cannot use their pre-determined method of salesmanship, they are lost. They are all told that without the Watchtower's magazines, etc, they cannot know the Bible. This is why they feel uncomfortable.
They need to bring in the elder to straighten you out so that you will accept the JW way of convincing you to join. If he can't do it, they'll likely stop coming.
jesus was a jew who apparently thought he was the messiah, however, after dying, his disciples began to propagate the lie that he would return from heaven during his generation.
but, his generation passed away, and it was clear that it was a false prophecy, then a dishonest christian wrote the second letter of peter so as to condemn those who realised that the prophecy was a fiasco.
