no more lurking...hello eveyone
by Evidently Apostate inabout a year ago i went through a mild meltdown.
it hit me fast i had panic attacks and became angry with all the control in my life.
(being a jw) i had just found out i was being screwed on a real estate development project by another self righteous jw i have known for a long time but this was a big loss (about 4 months pay plus expenses).

Need help with new DC Releases
by Mattieu inmy apoogies to my northern hemisphere friends who have already commented on the new releases at the district convention over the last couple of months.
wifey is at the first australian one today and came home last night with 2 new brochures; was life created?
& the origin of life - five questions worth asking.... at first glance, nice quality print job (printed in japan) colourful pictures to keep the kids busy all day at the convention site, but on further look the style of reasoning is sickening.

Hi Wannabefree, apologies I didnt make it clear what help I was after. It was in reference to the talks that were given when the brochures were released. Generally the talk will center around the new release and explain why it has been printed, which your reply did touch on. I just cannot see a need for 2 brochures, unless something was mentioned during those talks to explain the need. Both brochures contain very little scriptural references.
I asked wifey what the talks were about (couldnt remember)
BP - Hello again. If I recall corectly, only the w/t and awake are printed at Ingleburn, all other publications come out of Japan. Though Ingleburn does do a lot of printing as well for the Pacific Islands.
Cheers, Mattieu

At first glance, nice quality print job (printed in Japan) colourful pictures to keep the kids busy all day at the convention site, but on further look the style of reasoning is sickening. the old circular style of reasoning that if applied to the organisation would show it up for what it is.
But, I need to know is 2 brochures on the old subject Creation v Evoloution really appropriate? Two 32 page brochures on a subject that isnt really relevant in some countries or has already been extensively covered in other recent WBT$ publications...
Isnt there other pressing issues that the borg could have covered? Do a survey on the average John & Jane Doe in the congo and I am sure the issue of creation v evoloution is furtherst from their mind. The borg is telling them that they are under constant attack from satan and this sytem of things, they have all the same other emotional and financial pressures of "worldly" people, yet when it comes to "food at the proper time" heck, give them 2 brochures on creation!
Is the WBT$ stuck for ideas or too scared to delve into the "deeper things of gods word" for fear of being caught out?? The latest w/t has a 4 page article on the Big Ben clock tower in London! How is that proper food or helping those poor brothers and sisters feeling the pressure of this system of things?
Sorry for the rant, this is my 1st district convention I have never been to and wifey insists on taking the kids. Better head up to the shops and keep busy before I go too long.
Cheers, Mattieu

Are You A Better Person Since Leaving The Witnesses?
by minimus inare you a better neighbor, friend, husband, wife, etc.
i'm much less judgmental of what people do or think.
i'm more tolerant and i think i have real friends that are not as conditional as my jw brethren.. what about you?.
-
Mattieu
Hi Minimus, yes I agree that I am a much better person, more honest and true to myself and those around me. I agree with the sentiments above, we were generally all pretty decent people in the borg, though when it comes to really evaluating ourselves in regards to motive and honesty, its only once we break free from the cult that we become more balanced in our thoughts and actions.
I feel I am a better husband and dad, but more importantly I feel like I am in a better place!
Nice topic btw.
Cheers, Mattieu

Hi Asilentone,
Mine is that I enjoy the peace of sitting on the toilet for 15 minutes and reading the paper so that I wont be disturbed! Even if I dont need to actually need to go to the toilet I still head in there for some peace and quiet!
Cheers, mattieu (dont stress, despite having wireless internet I am not typing this on the can.......... now theres an idea.....)

'Do not forsake the gathering of yourselves together...'
by bez injust wondering what some of your opinions are on this scripture???
its one that has been thrown at me time and time again when i talk of my decision to leave the 'organization of god'.
as i would not be gathering together with his people and therefore forsaking the gathering of myself together..... (if ya get me!)..
-
Mattieu
Hi Bez, i agree. Due to the hypoctitical state of every congo, surely it has to be a proverb, the fact we all need association of some sort to prevent us going crazy...... Hmmm. maybe its a fullfilment of prophecy based upon the next generation of yong ones who will grow up not knowing how to interact one on one due to social website networks! Cheers, Mattieu (not 1 on1.....)

Is this workplace harassment?
by babygirl30 ini work in pa at a fortune 500 co. the manager i currently have is lazy, has no backbone, and is completely incompetent!
this is not just my personal opinion either - it is a running 'joke' amongst the entire dept of this man's managerial skills (or lack thereof).
so much so that even the other managers will make comments about my manager inability to properly perform his job...so this is what i'm dealing with.. being a very straightforward person, i find that being upfront about issues/situations seems to make things easier.

Mattieu
babygirl, he obviously does not deserve you as part of his team and his actions seem to based on an insecurity of the fact that without you he will be exposed for his weaknesses...... Hang in there and stand up for your rights. Cheers, Mattieu
