i'm reading the trial, by franz kafka.

pretty interesting read so far, though i'm only about 90 pages into it.

it's about a man who is arrested, but no one will tell him what he's been charged with, or give him any information at all.

Stolen Innocence by Elissa Wall. It's about a woman who was born into the Church of the Latter Day Saints and who was forced to get married at 14yrs old to her first cousin. She was trapped but was determined to break free even though she had little knowledge of the outside world. In order to save others she gives compelling evidence in a court case that brings her leader, the prophet, to justice.

The background is so similar to being in the JWs , cant believe the similarities. Am thinking of giving it to my MIL to read to see if it will make her realize what she's a part of. Think she might take it as its not an apostate book....but all the way through, the word Mormon might as well be replaced with JW.

it is an open secret amongst elders in the uk that the charities commission has been investigating jw procedures with regard to child protection , particularly following the porter case (an elder who abused children in millhill , the host congregation for the london bethel.).

I dont think there has been a recent update...not sure. Password protected was an elder just about a year ago and I'm sure this was the letter he showed to my husband. He was aghast at the content and the focus on the law suit payouts. Anyway, even if it has been changed/updated how many paedos got left unchecked up until that point and how many young peoples lives were/are ruined as a result ? It wont ever leave them........!

This clearly shows the orgs. willingness to appoint a pervert as long as its not too early. Sufficient time should have passed by first so that he's not the talk of the steamy any more and all the bros in the congregation, including anyone he raped, have forgotten all about it and now think he's a good guy. But as always, the real reason they appear as our good moral leaders is down to the £££ signs in their eyes. .......... THIS COUL RESULT IN COSTLY LAW SUITS.!

Why was this guy ever allowed to give talks ? Children's ears heard this... "terrible time"...."gruesome situation" ...."dead bodies and body parts of the wicked"....

Then being told that that you will not be traumatised by this "mass execution" ------ but will feel an inner satisfaction and triumph that Jehovah's justice has been served.

Then he asks..."Are we going to feel sorry for these people?........No!" He should have asked himself if any young impressionable minds would have been traumatised by

Been a godsend.........Have known Ninja and Password Protected for years and am married to Hoboken. We were all in my house last night watching the football and discussing the forum and some of the brilliant and funny threads that have helped us and kept us all going. Some of you guys got a mention and it's like we have all got mutual invisible friends...........so much affection and appreciation on display last night. Thanks.

DF or DA what do you think the difference is?

i would like to know from everyone first of all what they think the difference is between a df'd person and a da'd person.. i would also like to know what everyone thinks that jw's think is the difference between a df'd and da'd person.. personally i am df'd.

i was df'd 10 years ago almost and did not argue it at all as i had no desire to continue as a jw anyway.

before being df'd i was always under the impression that if a person da'd themselves it almost always meant they were " apostate" and that there was no way a jw should have any contact with them.

DA --- You make the decision DF --- They make the decision

Being DA'd , you have conscientiously objected to their teachings etc and all that they stand for, yet you are put in the same box as every fornicator, adulterer or paedophile. If you are viewed as Apostate then you are worse than all of the above. (No offense to any DF'd people).

Sad ending to a sad era ...

while i am new to this network, the evidence seems to be overwhelming that the wbts is in decline.

while many voice their pleasure at this prospect, it is in many ways sad for me:.

it is sad that so many have spent such a great quantity of their early lives supporting a cause that appears to have been a waste of time.

We d/f and d/a ones have seen the good and the bad side of the org. and experienced the good and the bad treatment of the individuals within it. Once you're officially out , you are treated only ONE way...........you are shunned ! And this is the ONLY side you will then see of the JWs as long as you remain out. If you happen to be d/f or d/a for being an apostate........then god help you ! You are somehow failing to see the "hate" that comes from these active JWs based only on it being promoted by their organization. THEY ARE TAUGHT TO HATE........especially those who are apostate !

You said.. "you ARE what you HATE". They are told to HATE us, so what does that make THEM ? What ARE they? Every active JW, whether they know you, or have never met you, will have this attitude toward you......even though they dont know the reasons why you left. They do this because as garybuss said........THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD TO....no other reason. Can they tell Joe Bloggs on the street, ..."Well, I don't talk to so and so because they PERSONALLY upset ME ." No they can't because there would be no truth in it. What intelligence does this reveal on their part? What do these ones have in THEIR soul?

We still know that these people are on the whole nice, kind and pleasant etc........but would WE hear the same being said about those of us who have left? They only have the one opinion of us across the board.........So ask yourself now who has the backward thinking? Who are the ones falling in line....instead of taking the step to think for themselves?

If the posters on here all give you their reasons for feeling bitter or angy........then yes it will reveal a lot about them ------- but it will even more so reveal a lot about the organization and its enforced rules that have damaged these people in the first place. There is always a reason behind the way people act and what they say. It's not said purely out of spite or badness.
